Default 1963 e brake handle and cable questions

I have a few questions concerning the 1963 e brake system.

1. Does anybody have a close up picture of the end of a 1963 e brake handle assembly? This would be the end that passes through or mounts to the firewall. The car i am working on did not come with a handle, but i have a 64-66 e brake handle assembly that is missing the screw on bracket that secures it to the firewall and I am wondering if i cant just convert this assembly into a 63 unit. I am a bit confused about how it is secured at the firewall. I see a clip on the interior firewall side in the assembly manual diagram, but that is it.

2. Does anybody have a picture of the ebrake assembly on the engine bay side of the firewall?

3. I know the cables run through two small holes on the driver's side of the frame rail, but where do they go from there??? how are the routed to the rear trailing arm assemblies? Pictures?

Thanks so much for all the help! This is the first 63 I have performed a stock restoration on and since i did not take the car apart, i am a little confused about some of the one year only items.

There is no big mystery to it - there is a big U-clip that holds the end of the cable at the firewall - the AIM shows it. I have a '63 parking brake that has a hole in it that some Bubba drilled for a manual choke. It can be welded and ground down to look factory but I found an unmolested original. PM me know if you're interested. It has the pawls and springs and works as original.

Thank you both! Those help a ton! Much less to the firewall mount than i thought.

Now for the rear...how do the cables run? Down the driver's frame rail all the way then i assume they cross over at the differential crossmember of the frame?

They both attach to the underside of the frame before the left rear wheel with clamps and 5/16-24 bolts.
The drivers side then goes right to the backing plate.
The passenger side routes over the front diff mounting bracket and is secured with a bolt, nut and clamp. The it attaches to the rear of the frame next to the brake block with a clamp and bolt, the goes to the backing plate.
Here's a pic, let me know if you need another view from the back.

I would have never guessed it ran right over top of the front differential mount. Placing a cable near a spinning driveshaft seems like a really bad idea!!! I guess that is why it was a one year only design.
Thanks for the replies and pictures!

Very nice looking work on your frame.

Be careful the rear emergency brake line is attached to the rear carrier front mount with the clamp and bolt/nut. The last thing you want is that cable to get caught in the spinning yoke.

Mine is also missing and I do not have a hole in my differential support for it. To my understanding that is where it should be mounted. What did you do. I know it’s been a while since your first post. Any help is appreciated. Any pics as well. Ty
