Default Performance gains (with images) - Stock to Now

Hello Everyone,

I have been slowly but surely adding mods to the LT1, and have my own unique way to measure performance. Below are my findings

Due to not having access to a track any day throughout the year I decided to gauge my performance by measuring my acceleration time from 40 - 100 MPH using the track stop watch feature.

40 - 100 MPH

Bone stock:
I was able to perform over 20 passes when stock, and my absolute best I could get was 6 seconds flat.

Dyno: 417whp
Mods: Stock
Time. 6.0 seconds

Intake/Tune
I did another 20 passes, and my best time was 5.7 seconds.

Dyno: 431whp
Mods: AFE Intake, Trifecta Tune
Time: 5.7

Headers, New Tune
20 more passes, and my BEST time was 5.4

Dyno: Unknown
Mods: Cat-less ARH, AFE Intake, Trifecta Tune
Time:

Removed RunFlats
Started to get cold outside and snow was becoming a issue. I ditched the stock tires, and got a non runflat all-season (traction for days!)

Dyno: Unknown
Mods: Continental DWS, Cat-less ARH, AFE Intake, Trifecta Tune
Time:

Flex Fuel Sesnsor + Tune
Installed a Gen5 Flex sensor, and tuned the ECU to allow the Corn Syrup. This pass was done with only 50% Ethanol blend for testing purposes, I confirmed that % by reading the ECU. I have only made ONE pass, and this was the result

Dyno: Unknown
Mods: 50% Ethanol, Continental DWS, Cat-less ARH, AFE Intake, Tune
Time:

Conclusion

This car is ***** to the wall fast now. I trapped in the quarter mile 117 MPH bone stock when I was turning out 6 flat with my tests. Once I go full E85 later this week, I expect to be in the 4's with ease. I don't want to start the troll wars, but I feel with just bolt ons and Flex fuel, this car will trap well... like really well, dare I say faster than a C6 Z06?

I'm currently only $2K (not including tires, i actually needed those) deep in mods, and now have a car that is capable of 10 second passes when it's all said and done (with slicks). I will post more details on my findings when I'm full E85!

Who is excited?? THIS GUY IS!

OK ladies and Gents. Here is the list by popular demand. If you want to be included, please provide what we have listed. I have a example of a run I made and what I shared.

Current Standings:
Driver / Year / Z51(Y/N/Z06) / M7/A8 / Estimated RWHP / Temp *F / ET 40-100mph
Higgs Boson........./ 2014 / N / M7 / 475 / 50* / 4.8
Bkafe................../ 2015 / N / A8 / 509 / 73* / 4.8
LT1 E85 Corvette.../ 2014 / Y / M7 / 471 / 50* / 4.9
anders1118........../ 2015 / Y / A8 / 410 / 50* / 5.6
imxz28.............../ 2015 / N / A8 / 410 / 52* / 5.7
MASTRO................/ 2015/ Y / A8 / Stock / 72 / 5.7
jimman.............../ 2015 / Y / A8 / 410 / 60* / 5.8

**Update/Example of submission for list**

I was able to do a updated test run when the car was at 60% Ethanol. I'm now at 70% however, the roads are in bad shape due to all the snow melting. I will provide my findings with the new Ethanol ratting in the next few days. Some additional good news is that we will start making tweaks to the tune within the next week due to how well the car is running. I might be a little optimistc, but with a dialed in tune I should be able to pull off a 4.6's on pure 85% ethanol with a healthy tune. It was 50 degrees out that night

The run flats are heavier than non-run flats.

That is incredible...and I had no idea the stopwatch feature could do that! I need to go play with it apparently

Who did your E85 tune? Trifecta? Is it a true FlexFuel tune so you can run any percentage of ethanol you want? I need to go read your sensor install thread now.

I shaved about 10lbs per wheel by dropping the run flats. Rolling mass when removed, can really help performance... and in this case it differently did.

I can't speak much on the E85 flex fuel tune and who i'm working with, more to come on that. At this point I can put any type of fuel in the car other than Diesel, and it will adjust fuel trims and timing for max reliable performance.

Good idea, I may have to measure 40-100 since I have no track.

afe cai
weapon x ported tb
formato ported intake manifold
TSP long tubes
160 thermostat
E85 (my tune)

dyno'd 439 rwhp with only ported tb/intake manifold and my tune on 93

have not dyno'd it yet with current mods

the big thing is how to make sure everyone is on flat ground for the 40-100 runs.

nice! yeah the flex fuel would be a nice added addition. I have one stretch of road on the highway I use, so it's a controlled environment. I think it's a slight uphill run, but nothing dramatic at all.

I like the 40-100mph measurement. Helps remove traction and is easily timed with these cars. What gear are you using? 4th?

I have 1 shift, so it gives me a little room for self improvement.

2nd to 3rd. 3rd tops out at about 103mph

Nice results, get that ethanol up to 70% and higher and she will fly. I know of a car with DR's, E85, Filter, no cats, Skinnies that trapped 126-127, so you may do 129 or so with your mods depending on DA. That for sure is 10's all day

Wonder if a pure 3rd gear pull would give a picture of the entire powerband? Regardless, I'm going to use this method to test out my car before and after mods.

T/A - Hell yeah, i read that guys post, and i was so impressed!

Buck - that might be true, but I like seeing how fast my car is with at least 1 shift. I do pride myself as being a good shiftier, plus it gives me practice. Post up your results with mods when you are done

A third gear pull would compare cars better without driver factor....But I like to shift fast too, lol.
