Clutch Recall #14717

Clutch Recall #14717
Just opened up my recall notice #14717 on my C6. Sounds as if their talking about the slave/or master failing? I have been doing the Ranger method for changing out the clutch fluid, not the best, but better than nothing? Haven't been reading a lot about the clutch slave/master here on the forum? Would have thought we might hear about the fuel pump before this?
Anyone having this issue?

First I have heard of this recall. I am familiar with the problem.
I did the GM vin# search and just came up with the emission recall, I have already had the headlight recall done and am waiting to schedule for the emission work.

I would like to know as well. I had my clutch MC replaced last week. I'm going to go pick it up this afternoon. They are expecting me to pay. I would love a recall/freebie

On the bottom of my recall GM has a disclaimer..
Quote: "Your request for reimbursement, including the information and documents mentioned above, must be received by your dealer by Sept. 30, 2016" Unquote
So you've got till next year to make your claim.

Looks like it isn't a recall. Most of us on the forum use the arranger method to avoid this dead clutch pedal. GM should just fix the problem, being an under designed component.
Something else along with the fuel tank issue.

check on it and no recall is open at the moment for my VIN. However, online at the GM account where one can try the warranties, recalls, services and other stuff, there is a special warranty code for that recall number mentioned above. It shows that I have 105k miles left or 5 more yrs for that warranty to expire. Guess if it goes out during that time, they will replace it

So I googled the recall number and found some info on the problem. It says that a new MC is to be installed with DOT 4 brake fluid. I printed the info and headed to the dealer to pick up my car. When I got there I showed them the TSB and the recall. The service writer tells me that he already ran my VIN and nothing but the headlight recall came up. He looked at the paper and said that it might only effect certain VIN numbers.
To show me he put my VIN in the system and what showed up #14717. He was surprised and said it must have just showed up today. I told him that I just saw it on the forum and somebody said they got the notice in the mail today. He check my new MC # against the MC listed in the recall as the replacement and that is the unit they install. SCORE!
I walked out owing nothing instead of a $950.00 bill.

From the notice:
Dealers are to replace the clutch master cylinder with a revised unit that is more robust against pressure pulses, and that includes a new fluid reservoir with improved labeling for use of proper fluid. The repairs will be made at no charge to the customer.

It isn't really a recall cause GM will only fix those cars with the dead clutch problem. It must be problematic for the fix.
Seems cheap, if they have a problem fix it.
