Unlikely compliments that made you smile
So I pull into the grocery store at 11:30 pm this evening. As I'm walking to the store, this mother is loading groceries into her mini van while her 3-4 year old child sits in the basket watching. I see the mini van is packed with food, clothes, toys, etc. when she stops me and says, "As you might guess, I'm really not into cars but I have to tell you that car is amazing. What is it?" Her small child then says, "I love your car," as drool pools from his teething mouth.
A few weeks earlier, a Turkish tow truck driver (don't ask) tells me my car "Looks like an alligator, but in a good way. It looks like something that crawled out of a swamp."
What have you heard about your Z that made you smile?

I took my much younger (20s) neighbor for a ride yesterday and as we were approaching a car in the lane to our right the driver rolled down his window and stuck his arm out with his thumb up. My neighbor said "Wow, do you get that kind of reaction all the time?" While smiling I said "It's Normal".

Pulled into gas station and this car full of young uns started to snap shots with their phones. One young man asked "What's on your dash".
I looked at him like what do you mean. He again asked the same question and I said I don't have anything on my dash. They all laughed like I was a moron and drove away. Told my son about it and he laughed, said they wanted to know how high are the number on the speedometer, lol.

My car was delivered in January by the dealership in an enclosed trailer. The salesman drove to our house to go over everything. We were sitting in the driveway in the Z06 when a high school kid pulls up in front of our house, walks up to the car, and asks if he could take some pictures. I thought that was pretty cool for only having the car about 15 minutes.

It took me a few weeks to get used to all the people pulling up next to me and taking pictures. I kept thinking all these people wanted to race me. That NEVER happened in my C6.

I was at a stop light, and a guy pulled up beside me on the right side, and rolled down his window, I rolled mine down, he said, "My son loves your car", his son who was about ten years old was breaking his neck trying to look over dad to look at the car, I thanked them very much, told them it was a 2016 Corvette Z06, about that time the light turned green, I said thanks again, and as I was pulling away, I hear the Dad say to his 10 year old son, "Man, that F-_-_ing car is beautiful"..... Everybody I tell that story cracks up

Sort of in the other direction, I accidentally waved at an Enzo before I realized what it actually was. He didn't wave back.
Save the wave, even if its with Ferraris.
I get a lot of school kids screaming "I love your car". Nothing like impressing 9 year olds!

I picked up my little one from school one day and as the kids were coming out they were all coming over asking what kind of car it was, how fast it goes, can they take pictures etc...
When my daughter came out and started to get in everybody was like OHHHHHHHHHHH thats your dad???? Your so cool!
So the next day, she tells me that everybody was talking about the car and how shes made so many new friends and her teachers were asking questions such as...Is your dad married? LOL! Funny stuff and always puts a smile on my face when I think about it. Have not picked her up since that 1 time but she always ask me too! Ill wait till it warms up a little more and surprise her! More smiles to come!

No compliments, but while I was getting a hair cut today about a dozen people at various times walked over to my Z07 and looked around ( they could not see me) and took pictures of the car and selfies up the wazzoo. Then most walked away looking over their shoulder shaking their heads. I guess muttering to themselves about how they would like to own such a beast !!! The woman cutting my hair was in stitches the whole time !! It was sort of like a candid camera moment.

It never gets old, so I'm loving these moments for the time being. What continues to surprise me is the comments I get on the color....Shark Grey. I never thought of it as a spectacular color and picked it simply because of all the black that comes on the car. EVERYBODY comments on the color - it's freaking grey for crying out loud!

The most memorable compliment i have recieved came about a year ago when i was getting gas..... a little frail old black woman who was probably well into her 80's said "that car is beautiful, you must work for the president". I talked to her for a couple minutes about the car. She was as nice as can be. I probably will never forget that one.
