Who are all the 58 owners on this forum?
This thread is to identify those people who own a 1958
Please limit your comments...no high-jacking, off topics, debates, arguing, ect. Positive comments are "OK". If you have a question(s) about something specific regarding a 58, please contact the person(s) directly.
If you know of someone that owns a 58...tell them about this thread.
Why this thread...
The 58 is consider the "one-year-only" corvette and saw many changes even during it's own production. This is why the 58 is classified as either an "EARLY 58" or "LATE 58". Even the parts are different and classified as either early or late.
As the changes occurred, the documentation was updated to reflect the changes and because of this, some of the information is missing or doesn't apply.
According to an article in the San Francisco Chronicle (about 30 years ago), titled "Save A 58", there are a lot less 58's as compared to the same ratio as production/survivors to any other year. The reason is, it was the first year for dual headlights and they were the car of choice for night time dirt track racing. Racecar drivers would wire the headlights in parallel so if one headlight broke (or more), they could continue. Needless to say, many crashed, were radically modified, and eventually parted out.
It is my hope that with a list of 58 owners, we can contact each other for specific question.
Please tell us about your car, location, options, and production number.
Please enclose some pictures and tell us a little about your car.
- Dennis
Here is some information on mine....
Production number: 2300
Hood support is on the passenger side
Power windows
Radio
Soft top and hardtop
My car use to be a race car and many things were modified on it or missing. I'm trying to put it back to original as much as I can, but not to the extreme.

I have had my 58 since 1973, hard top only, radio, five leaf springs, four speed, hood support..passenger side.It was also a race car...19,000 miles. PN2844. Passenger fender had damage and was bondoed up.Had a kind of blue-purple paint with inca silver insert, the color now is like yours only with a white insert. It had a Silver top (like you paint your fence with).Had some 62 trim on it. No trunk spears then, but do have them now. Any questions?BILL58

Here's mine, it's a twin turbo LS1 with 6 speed, it was an old drag car back in the 70-80's it was pretty much a shell when I got the car.
Tons of custom touches to the car, but committed to the original design, one of the most unique, is that the floor pans have been lowered 6" and footwell pushed forward about 3". Tons of room in this car, with integrated shoulder harness seatbelt built into the seat.
Production #3146
