1969 - What intake should it be?
Can someone tell me what is the correct air intake should be on a 1969 350/350? MY C3 has an edelbrock carburetor and intake. I know the carb 8962 series is not correct, how about the intake? The intake is a 1806 series. Since you are at it...what is the carburetor supposed to be? At some point I want to return it back to original.

Carb is quadrajet 7029207 cant remember intake offhand i'll check if no answer from anyone else.
Carb was made many years as service replacement, if correct date is important may be tricky, good luck.

This is 69 Intake the defining feature is the round boss where the oil filler tube used to go on the earlier intakes. in 69 they relocated the oil filler hole to the valve cover, the 69 intake still has the cast in location, but no open hole. in 70 they removed the cast in round boss from the intake design. this is cast Iron. the original carb. is Rochester QuadraJet.

Hi DNS,
I believe the intake for the 69 300 h.p. and 350 h.p. engines was the same.
#3927184; and later in production #3965577.
It's cast iron not aluminum.

If you go shopping for a correct 350hp carb, be sure to get the DA suffix, Some 207 carbs are over the counter service replacements. They will work OK, but are worth a fraction of a real DA. Look for later dates than correct. Dont pay for the wrong part.

Yes, vettebuyer is correct. You want to make sure you don't pay a high price for a replacement unit. Here is an original unit. Vettebuyer that is a great picture of the engine as well as the A.I.R system.

Any ideas where I can get the correct intake? Is this something still made or is it something I will need to hunt down over time? Again, my car is a 1969 Convertible 350/350.

At this point I am just doing my homework. I don't see a real need to remove the Edelbrock intake that is currently on the car now. I have discovered another issue, that is, my air cleaner seems to be interfering with part of the carburetor. It is not the correct cleaner for the cobbled together carb. (For all I know maybe this is a nice setup?).
Now I need to buy the correct air cleaner for the Edelbrock Carb, any idea which ones will work. I plan on calling the technical number to get clarification.
Base of the carb has the number 1806 2765, the top of the carb has # 8962. This whole thing is sitting on a Edelbrock Performer intake.
I recently purchased the car and I am extremely happy with it. It has the 427 hood most likely because of the aftermarket intake. The engine is original to the car, 350/350. The car runs and drives great. This past weekend I drove about 150 miles over the three days. What a blast!
Tonight I replaced the entire distributor with a new HDI since the one that was on did not have the vacuum advance and the spark plug wires were in BAD shape.
To review,(not that it matters) I replaced the valve cover gaskets, replaced a exhausted manifold gasket, new spark plugs, new HDI distributor with vacuum advance, replaced the drivers side door strike, changed the engine oil to full synthetic. Next up,get the correct air cleaner as stated above, change the manual transmission oil, replace the posit traction differential lubricate and enjoy the rest of the summer!

Before you go buy parts, you need to understand,
You have limited hood clearance, breather, carb, intake.
All effect hood clearance, you have limited selection that will fit under your hood.
Start with a wad of aluminum foil on your breather,
Shut the hood, now measure your foil thickness.
To verify hood clearance. Good luck.

did you use a full synthetic oil intended for flat tappet camshaft engines such as yours? Mobil 1 15W50 would be an example.

I did, I put in Joe Gibbs HR-3 High Zinc 15W-50 Full Syntheric. It was recommended to me by a local motor shop. I think this will be my standard unless someone has a better idea?

The intake shouldnt be terribly expensive. The correct carb restored could be $1000+.
Correct alternator is very ugly as well.
Don't go smog shopping.
