Insurance Rates...
I just dropped the hammer on a new 2016 ZO6 with the ZO7 package. Insurance is 3k a year with a zero claim record 60 year old driver. Seems way high to me. That's AAA with house and cars on some policy.
What's the going rate.

That's really high. Any claims or tickets? Is this your only car? I'd call another company and get a quote. Some companies aren't Corvette friendly. I haven't checked recently, but he Z06 without the Z07 package was only about $100 more a year than a 2LT z51 driven as a second car when I checked my policy at USAA.

check with Adam Boca at National Corvette Museum - he is a vendor-supporter of this site and is a GR8 car guy

USAA for me is less than half that, and I have pretty much max coverage and low deductibles.
Oddly my wife's 2016 2SS Camaro is higher...

That's crazy. I'm around $1400 a year on the Vette with USAA.

I'm 33. Was paying 80/mo for c6 z06 a few years ago on state farm. Haven't had accident or ticket for about 8 years.
State farm was charging me 110/mo for my mdx. I switched to nationwide and it's 70. I asked for a quote on 2016 z06 and they said 78/mo.

If it isn't your daily, check out Grundy. I just switched to them for my C7. No mileage limit the car cannot be your daily, must be garaged kept but you can have an agreed upon value.
Anyways, I have a C7 Z51, I'm 27, one ticket on my record from like 2011 and live in Texas. I was paying just over $1,600 a year with Geico. Now with Grundy I pay $883 per year.

33 no tickets etc... Paying less than half that with USAA. Time to leave AAAsap!

It's worth noting that not all coverage is equivalent. Geico can save you money by raising your deductible, providing no medical, making it unstacked, lowering the liability coverage, etc etc.

There's many factors that contribute to your insurance premium besides the obvious...age and driving record. How many vehicles you have insured with that company, your house (?), maybe a rider of sorts (commonly $1-2 million), where you live, how many miles per year, et al. I'm 69, multiple vehicles, my house, a rider, live in SW PA, retired and will drive my new Z06 less than 7500 miles per year. My full premium on a pretty extensive policy with State Farm is $422/6 months. It's not the HP that really drives the high cost of the Z06 and Stingray insurance....it's the fact that it's fiberglas (or whatever kind of plastic/fiber it is) and the extensive costs of fixing even small accidents, is what influences the insurance rates. Got that straight from the horse's mouth, a VP at State Farm.
