Looking for my old car
I know this is a long shot but tying to track down my old corvette. I've tried the insurance company, dmv, old oil change places, dealership, and lienholder and can not find anyone that has the VIN so figured I'd try my luck here. I appreciate any leads anyone can offer. It is a 1995 triple black Six speed convertible. Car was sold to new owner at gateway classic cars in fairmont city IL in 2000. I was young when I owned this car a it was driven hard and somewhat abused. Had a bad repair on the passenger side just behind the front tire about the size of a basketball. Sport seats. Ride control. Thank you for any help anyone can offer. Would love to find it and see if it's still out there.
UPDATE: with a little luck I was able to track down the old plate number. I tried the DMV but they said no record any longer. Seems like there gs to be something somewhere. The plate number is IL D367447. If anyone and has contacts or ways to track the VIN I would be very thankful!

I'm sure you tried, but did you hit up Gateway Classic Cars. They might be able to lend so assistance. Although, even if they could find it, they are probably not going to give out any personal information on it.

Found Her!
Just figured I would share an update to my search. After a couple years of searching I’d started to believe the car was gone or I wouldn’t never be able to find it . By just pure luck I stumbled across a craigslist ad that was identical to my old car. I contacted the owner and got the VIN and ran a carfax and it confirmed based on where I bought the car, where I registered it and where I sold it that it was almost certainly my car. After seeing the car in person I was able to confirm based on prior damage I had caused that it is 100 percent my old car. fortunately she was kept in great mechanical shape by the previous owner and will just need some cosmetic work. I of course could not be happier to have her back. I’m attaching a pic and hope this might inspire anyone out there looking for their old car to not give up hope and keep searching!

Sometimes they arent what you remember, glad you got it back
Sometimes you can contact your insurance co see if they can get the old vin for you (for other people looking for theirs)
