Default For those with C7 Carbon GTX side skirts...

What are the different ways you attached the middle portion of the skirt to the car? Rivets as suggested, clips, 3M tape only? Any issues?

Also, they are a thin layer of carbon fiber (on a thin layer of FRP?) right?

Trying to see all of the different ways you guys have attached them. I would rather not rivet them or drill holes, but if it's the best way then so be it.

Any pictures of the underside of the skirts showing attachments methods would be awesome if you happen to have any.

TIA

taped full length of rocker contour > factory screws + 1/4" snap lock scrivets on bottom side
factory screws + scrivets on splitter
skirt bottoms coated w/Rocker Guard

You can choose to double tape but I had (black) rivets drilled in and mounted them. Also used the stock bolt holes but new stock bolt holes needed to be drilled on the skirts because the attachment points seem to have changed between the 2016 and 2017 widebodies (GS and Z06). The 5 standard stock bolts were pulling it way too inward with the holes that already came on the skirt. Another member, Blown81bu, had that problem as well and I believe he ignored the stock bolts and just used tape.

Here's showing you the way they initially fit (improperly) with just the stock bolt holes on my GS.

I apologize, I don't have pictures of the underside right now.

Mine's a 2017 GS with the Carbon Fiber GTX skirts. Yes, they are carbon fiber layered on top of fiberglass or FRP. Pretty sturdy but I wrapped them in XPEL anyway :P

I used 3M mounting tape and pop-rivets. The 3M tape does a great job of holding everything in place before you rivet and fills any minor gaps where sand or small pebbles could works their way in. They look flawless once hey all in.

I just used the 3m double sided tape in the middle section and the factory screws in the front and back.

Mine lined up perfect and my car is a 2015 as well. I used the five 5 factory bolts and 3m double stick tape. About 10 months now and no problems.

Anyone have any photos of these skirts from the bottom to show how the holes line up with the factory bolts?

I think it's only a 2017 Widebody change, any older cars won't have the issue.

Mine was built on July 11th, 2017.

These were ACS skirts installed, but with a different method, using c-clips instead of drilling and rivets. I'm not sure how similar c7 carbon and ACS are with the shape of their skirts, but I'm guessing they're pretty close so this could be another method to maybe take a look at:

I installed my C7 Carbon ..... carbon fiber GTX side skirts using the 3 holes at the front and the 2 rear existing mounting screws.

For the middle section, I just drilled 5 additional holes into the rocker panel, using the 5 holes in the side skirts as a template. I attached the skirt using plastic SCRIVETS which can easily be removed, using a plastic tool. They make them in several sizes. I got ones that are about 6 mm and drilled a .187" hole for each....... push them in with your thumb and it holds the skirt tight against the rocker

Bought a bag full of them on Amazon for a few bucks.

In fact, I like my C7 Carbon side skirts so well, I've removed them from our 2016 Stingray to use again on our '17 Grand Sport which is on order.

I used the C7 Carbon GTX Carbon Fiber on our '16 Stingray and all the holes lined up perfectly...... 3 at the front, and 2 at the rear.

I called C7 Carbon to ask if they would fit our forthcoming Grand Sport and they DO fit, but they told me that the back 2 mounting holes will NOT line up and I'll need to re drill my side skirts to align them.

Yup, this pretty much. They were pulling mine in way more than they should have until I drilled 2 new rear-end holes on the skirt.

Once again folks, this is only on the 2017 Grand Sport and Z06. You don't have to worry about it if your car is a 2016 or earlier.

Used the same process exactly. I believe I may have suggested this Strake originally. So easy. C7Carbon is a quality product.

Had them on my 2014 and are on my wife's 2016. No problems with fit on either one. Just used factory bolts and double sided 3M mounting tape.
This is my 2014. Sold and now have a 2017 Grand Sport

This is my wife's 2016 with C7Carbon side skirts and front splitter

So with those scrivets, once you drill holes is the other side of the body where you drill exposed (in other words, can see other side of scrivet when installed) or are you drilling into the body and unable to see the other side of what you are drilling into?

My worry with that is electrical or something running through these areas...

NMVETTEC7 ........ Yes you did suggest to me how to do this, and it was greatly appreciated, and worked GREAT.....

As for Boost Monkey's question about drilling into something such as wiring, etc...... I was careful to drill in JUST far enough to go through the rocker material...... about 1/8" or so I would guess. Also, it is my understanding that only the Z06 has lines running in there. It drills like butter, so it takes very little pressure on the drill. I slid the drill bit way into the chuck, so that only about 3/16" of bit was showing so it would stop at that point. I had no issues.
