Default What is happening? What is this noise?

Sorry, had to trim the video to be able to upload it here. Drove the car about 7 miles each way to dinner tonight. Came home, went back out into the garage about 15 minutes later and it was making this noise. Please listen, in the video it does it 3 times. It continued making this noise. I started it, shut it off, it made the noise for a couple more minutes then stopped. My car is a 16 z51 m7 with rev match/MRC. On the way home, the fuel light kicked on, low on fuel, but nothing else out of the ordinary. Please help

Never heard that sound before, my car does make odd sounds from time to time. Fill your fuel tank, see if it does is again. I don't have magnetic ride and have never operated the car with a light fuel load that illuminated the low fuel indicator.

Maybe noise from metal components contracting at different rates as the car cools. I've heard noises like that after shutting down, especially on my Harley, which makes a symphony of dings and pops as it cools.

Have you added anything aftermarket like a curb-alert etc?

Sounds like the HVAC is going through a cycle. Disconnect the negative battery terminal for 30 seconds. If you are due for a state inspection within the next couple of days do it after the inspection is complete or the inspector will get a "Not ready" on his equipment.

I like the sense of humor guys. I had a conference call with the ghostbusters this morning and can confirm it's not ghosts, gouls, witches or the walking dead. With that eliminated, lets move forward.

To answer the aftermarket sensor question, no, absolutely bone stock. About a month ago, right after I picked up the car, dealer did the airbag recall. That's the only time anyone other than me has touched the car.
As for HVAC, makes sense. If I were to describe the noise, it sounded like the noise AC compressors used to make when kicking on. No state inspections here, so I'll disconnect the battery, Thanks. However, is this a defect?

I want to believe that, but I highly doubt it. It was a very specific sound. It was the coldest night we've had last night and my wife had the heat blasting on her side as we were driving home. I don't know what it could be though

About a year ago, someone posted a thread with similar noises, but I don't recall who the username was. Maybe someone else remembers the thread?

A quick YouTube search found the video he posted, though.

I remember that noise it was the coolant reserve tank cap letting off pressure.

It sounds like a real anomaly. I have never heard anything like it.
Time to let the dealer figure it out for you. It would make me nuts.

Too bad the guy hasn't been on since april of this year. Would have loved to see how/if this was resolved. It's very early, not enough data yet, but look at his date, early November. I have to wonder if this is cold weather related

Thanks, but that's a negative. I'd rather have it burn to the ground in my garage than have some jackass beat the crap out of my car pretending he's "reseaching" my problem.

I'm confident someone can help identify the problem around here

Back to the top one more time. It's been raining nonstop so I haven't been able to drive it to see if it would make the noise again. Meantime, please help if you can.
