Default Steering wheel vibration after brake replacement..

This past Thursday I had my front rotors and pads replaced at Jennings Chevrolet. The rotors are Zip Corvettes stock replacements along with Duralast Gold ceramic pads.

After the installation, I noticed a strong vibration in the steering wheel on the highway when I got above 75 mph. I discovered it after I had to pass a tractor trailer that was dropping debris on the roadway. Prior to the service appointment, there was definitely no issue with vibration in the steering wheel.

It only occurs while driving above 75 or so and not when braking. Braking is smooth, no issues there.

An online search shows it could be the lug nuts may have been improperly torqued or a wheel balance issue. I do not see any missing wheel weights on the rim.

I'm taking it back Monday morning to make them aware of the issue.

Has anyone else experienced a similar problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Were the pads bedded properly after installation?

Make sure they did not reinstall the tinnerman nuts on the studs. OEM rotors are built to clear them but not all aftermarket rotors are.

Yup, there is no issue when applying the brakes. Braking is smooth, incident free. The vibration only occurs under acceleration at speeds greater than 75. I'm thinking the tech did not properly torque the lug nuts.

Have the brake rotors been balanced? I don't know what 'Zip Corvettes' stock replacements are .... but I know many manufacturers do not balance their rotors. I recently replaced rotors and pads on my '11 GS and had the rotors checked for balance before I put them on the car. They were out to the tune of 3/4 oz on one, 1 oz on the other.

Also had the same issue when I replaced rotors on my truck with some cheap ones. Took them off, took them back, got some good ones that had been balanced, no more vibration.

Check the lug nut torque. Supposed to be 100 ft lbs. Too tight can distort the rotor.
I thought the tinneman nut recess are on the oem wheels, not the disc.

There is no recess for the T-nuts on the rotor. The recess is on the wheel. If you have OEM wheels the T-nuts should not be an issue. If the rotors were not turned they should be unchanged, if they were turned they could be out of true. I would have the front wheels rebalanced. Your issue seems to be with the rotating weight and not the actual brake assembly.

Agree 100% with the above.
Some dealers also have on car brake lathes which are reported to help drastically with out of balance or warped rotor wobble
