That's what we have for the track. It was expensive but a 6 pound battery literally starts the car better than the 40+ pounds 1000CCA lead acid battery we keep in the car for everyday driving. I purchased it from Lithium Moto. http://www.lithiummoto.com/
It's not particularly user-friendly either but there's no denying its performance and the added performance it gives the car as a whole. Since we've got a C5 and it seems like all C5's kill batteries for whatever reason, I cannot recommend this battery for a daily driver unless you can easily disconnect it every time you stop the car and leave it parked for any length of time. If this battery discharges, it's toast. Don't ask me how I know.
I've been using a Braile 17 lb. for years and use for a daily driver. My 98 has a slight current draw so it needs to be on a charger if I don't use the car after a couple of days but the 04 does not have any problem starting (stroked 382) even after sitting for a week. They are easy to kill if they drain. Just had the dealer change the oil and they checked the battery and it was a good 450 CCA.
I had a 11# braile battery it worked fine. I did keep it on a trickle charger. I am in the process of relocating a full size battery to the trunk, as any bit of extra traction helps.
Do a search for high end car audio batteries. There's quite a few out there that can be used for what your looking to do. Can't recall all the different one available but Braile is one of them.
Just bought a Antigravity lithium battery 9.5lbs fit in the stock location almost same size, this is in a C6 Z06 but works like a champ has a low voltage cut off so if you leave your lights on or run it down pretty low. You can press a button on the back of it and it will still start your car and almost 1/3 of other comparable battery's I've found. GL!
It's a good weight savings idea, but remember the battery is behind the front wheels, so it's not going to move the weight transfer as much as other cars. We used dynabatts in our mustangs back in the day. I'd probably look at relocating the battery to the trunk to move it further back if weight transfer while launching is your main concern drag racing.

which one do you have? i saw one for $600. they dont give any wheights.
The one I am using is from autozone made by deka. ETX18L 17 lbs. I was using the 15 lb ETX20L which I liked as well. I don't know if the ETX20L was a bad battery or what but it would drain fast. When this one gets bad, I want to go back to the etx20l. I can feel the weight difference up front from stopping better and accelerating better. Procharger adds alot of weight up front.

Awesome. I had not heard of this battery and sounds perfect with the low power cut off switch built in.
Have you put a lot of miles on it so far? wondering how reliable it is when used a lot and getting drawn down etc
I swear with some of the cheaper lithium iron batteries could just carry two of them in the car and if ever have a problem use the backup, would still be out $400 for two of them and still save 40lbs vs normal batter
Not sure as I've been fighting a fuel pressure gremlin and haven't gotten it worked out yet to put a ton of miles on my car, but its been pretty good. I ran all of TX2K with it and worked flawless, but I can't say its been on there for a ton of miles to know about longevity. But it does have a good warranty although those are usually crappy as you have to probably send it in and let them evaluate it while your car will be dead in the water LOL! One huge turn off has been the freaking European Battery posts! But nothing a little terminal modifications didn't fix. I was like who the F____ uses European posts in the USA? And these things screw on so why aren't you sending the battery with both or even have them for purchase etc... Just a few of the questions I had for them after receiving it. But it fits great in the rear of my C6 ZO6 so i'd guess yours would be just a easy to mount.

good stuff. would be awesome to drop 40lbs that easily off the nose of the car. i like the way they built these so it sounds like you can never kill the battery since just turns itself off if gets too low

It's not actually the nose of the car. You're thinking too much in to old school cars. The battery is located behind the front tires. It does help, but not in weight transfer like our old hot rods. It doesn't have the same weight transfer effect you're thinking.
I put my $600.00 AntiGravity battery in this morning.
The terminals are backwards so I had to make some short cables
and the bolt to hold it down was too short as the ledge on the battery is higher but nothing I couldn't do.
Also the threads on the top posts to mount side terminals are a different mystery thread that is smaller than the side terminal bolts but not 3/8 x 18 standard however those size
bolts at 3/4" long worked well with my Big 3 kit and monster stereo and such.
Goes in ok and threads about 1/4-3/8" then get stiff.
