Dozens of luxury cars impounded after reported stunt driving on Hwy. 400

the Lambo that got impounded had a sticker on the side window that said
" let me guess, license and registration?" he got it right!
Some sweet rides parked in the mud at the yard

Well I won't be calling them names. Them getting caught doesn't make it any easier on us cruisers, but then, I've heard and seen some in our group be just as bad. Only, they got caught.

The cops are asking people with dash cam video to come forward. Apparently this is all based on someone 'calling it in'. While I do not condone what they are accused of (who passes on the shoulder?!?), I would not be so quick to judge. I'm not a fan of a law that lets police impound your car based on eyewitness accounts only for the courts to sort things out later.

I believe I saw a number of these folks on Sunday as we were heading south to Toronto.
Makes it ugly for everyone else. Don't agree on impounding someone else's car based on "reports" from others.

Last time I checked, that stupid law now reads that the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario holds the list or regulation of what qualifies as stunt driving. So, it can just be changed whenever the government decides to ask the LG to change it without any bills or voting.
Sadly, there are many items on this list and many of them are quite vague in the wording. On every Corvette cruise I've been on, I'd bet there was at least 2 or 3 drivers that did something which could be interpreted as qualifying under that list. I'd also bet everyone here has driven at least one time in a manner which could be interpreted as qualifying in any car.
Hell, the cars just accelerating hard from a stop sign or light past the legal speed limit could cause the front car or cars to be nailed if the police decided to be ignorant that day. As long as the speed goes past the limit it could be interpreted as qualifying. Having it stick doesn't much matter, the license missing a week and the week of impound fee damage is already done.

At our club meets, this comes up (law) every so often.......
Every time I boot it to redline, I'm always looking over my shoulder aware that if a cop spots me, and he's in a mood, your toast.
People read stories like this and were all lumped into the same pot. Here in Ontario you really got to be smart, and everyone now has a cell camera.

-Driving with a person in the trunk
And my favourite,
-Occupying a passing lane for longer than it is reasonable to overtake (doesn't seem to ever be enforced)

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. They need evidence to press charges. It sounds like they are asking the public to provide it to them....
Does anyone think its odd that most of the cars had sponsorship stickers all over them? Who in their right mind would buy a Lambo and put a Tire Connection sticker on it. Unless they don't own these cars.

I don't really get paying $2500 to drive your car, then also having to plaster it with advertising. The organizers are getting paid from both sides, so I'm sure they're happy with it (save for the negative publicity from this weekend).
