Default Need replacement wheels for a 1962 corvette.

I purchased a 1962 basket case in a field and the wheels will not hold air.
What wheels can I use to cheaply move the vet to my garage?
Thanks in advance...

Just about anything with a 4.75", 5 lug bolt circle and 14"-16" diameter. Hub size matters, though about all Chevs interchange

Maybe have some tubes put in the old tires and wheels.

Anything that fits the hub, 5 x 4 3/4. I hope your up for a challenge. Were starting off pretty basic. Good luck.

Tubes. Your chances of finding 4 serviceable S-10 spares in one place for cheap are zero and zilch.

you never know unless you try... Actually, I found three of them and one Z28 rim from a 70s model when I needed them. Worked fine at the time (2008). I tried to grab a set of rally rims but the owner of the junk yard did not want to give up the goods. A full set were sitting on the rim section and I figured they were there for a reason. I grabbed the set and took them to the counter. The owner was "no,no.no!"...

I've got 2 15 x 5 1/2 with the correct bolt pattern, riveted, not welded. Not technically correct for your car, but hard to tell a difference unless NCRS judged. Unless you plan to go aftermarket, this would get you half way there. PM if interested. But, for rollers, lots of wheels fit.

If you can believe it, after sitting for 30 years on flat tires, the rims were good and the tire inner tubes held air with one slow leak. Thank you all for your help!

My local LKQ has a number of S-10 trucks and SUVs, all with 4 wheels and spares.

The rivited wheels on my '54 leaked. I just bought some tubes (cheap) and problem was solved. Be patient when looking for correct wheels for your '62. My '62 came with two wheels off who knows what that were incorrect so I bought some repro wheels but the 4 nibs were so big the hubcaps wouldn't go on. I sent them back and almost bought the first pair I saw on ebay for way too much money. I took a little additional time and finally came across a listing with a reasonable price. Using inner tubes will allow you to be patient when searching out a correct set of wheels with the 4 nibs if that's your plan.

When I drove my car 7 days a week 52 weeks a year, I carried a pair of Firestone Town and Country snow tires on rims from my '51 Chevy in the back during the winter. All of the Chevy rims from when they changed over from 6 bolt to 5 interchanged.

If finding four wheels to bolt on hubs for transport is a major concern ................... I can see you have a Verrrrrry long road ahead.
Obtain a NCRS sticker , place it on the windshield, calm your nerves, a major goal lies in the far distant future.
I like the description " cheaply ". Has nothing to do with Corvettes.

Hey Jim,

I would bet if you go back, the wheels will still be there. You know, he's saving them for his special project that he's going to finish! LOL!

Thank you Charles! Oddly, the tires held air and I will be bringing it home after the rain stops and it dries out.
Thanks again!

Hello Mark, and welcome to the forum.

I know some who have taken the tires off and used a "sealant" type paint to the inside of the entire wheel. Kind of like the old American's that will leak at times.

Worse case is that you could put tubes in them.

Good luck with your project, you're going to have a lot of fun with it!

Pat

Thank you! The tubes were actually good and it's out of the mud and ready to come home. Thanks again for input!

The wheels were actually good and the tires with tubes pumped up and are holding. I lucked out on it, and when the weather breaks, it will be moved home. Thank You Randy!
