Confused in buying C6 Z06 or C7 Z06
Dear members,
Im confused in buying c7 z06 or c6 z06. The problem is that I saw some racing videos on youtube, where the c6 z06 beats the c7 z06.
I like the new z06 from its look and ride, but what if someone beats me with an old z06 then I will be disappointed . I dont mind to modify it but at least if it gets modified it will have high performance.
My question is should i go with the new vette z06 or the old one?
If its the new one, can I modify it in a safe way ?
I need somone to convince me.
Kindly regrads,
Ali

Stock Z06:
C6 LS7 505 HP/470 LB/FT @ 3,130#
C7 LT4 650 HP/650LB/FT @ 3,523#
You do the math.

Here is my take on this. I modified C6Z is going to be faster than a stock C7Z, but if you do a few bolt-on mods to the C7 it is bye, bye to the C6Z. Stock on stock the C7Z will be faster. Comparing the M7 C7Z it does the quarter mile in 11.3 and the C6Z in 11.6. Zero to 60 is 3.3 in the C7Z and 3.6 in the C6Z. The A8 C7Z is even quicker. However it also may boil down to price. You will pay twice as much for a C7Z as a C6Z - let's say $75K versus $35-40K. And then there is the matter of which one looks better to you, interior, tech, etc. This has been hashed over many times on the Forum and everyone has different opinions.

If you can afford the C7 Z06 it's much more fun. If you can't the C6 Z06 is a nice budget alternative. Just make sure you get one that has the valve work already done.

Let's see a stock c6 zo6 runs low 12s high 11s with a decent driver. A new c7 zo6 runs low 11s high tens stock. Let me see which is faster. A used c6 zo6 can be had for low 30s and a used c7 zo6 mid 60s. I guess it depends on your budget. C7 ZO6 is much faster.

If you can spend the extra coin, the new Z entirely better.
Sure you can save some money and modify the C6Z and it will destroy a stock C7Z or even a bolt on C7Z. But in the end you still have an outdated car. Still looks awesome don't get me wrong. But you lack the tech, the "freshness", the better designed car.
The C7Z isn't just a new body, with a new engine and more hp. The chassis is stronger, has a WAYYYY better interior, newer obviously, has a warranty.
Unless money is really an issue, why even consider going backwards?

I think I will go with the new one, but its impossible to keep it stock.

Do you want to be faster than everyone else within a budget? If so you don't want a C7 z06. You can build a faster c6 if you have a budget, but to me the c7 looks way better. That's totally subjective though. How big is your bank roll and how fast do you want to go? Wait till a $45k mustang with a twin turbo coyote motor blows your doors off.

Impossible to keep it stock? I don't understand this thought process. If you insist on modding something you have never even driven then I would go with the cheaper, less complex, and larger displacement C6Z.

Dont worry, I will not go deep on it just few things exhaust, intake and intoduce them to the system by tuning the engine in safety mode.
