Goodbye C7 GS, hello C7 Z06/Z07
Some of you may recall, I had to have my engine replaced on my 2017 Grand Sport. Abel Chevrolet treated me very well, so I declared my loyalty to them and decided to always make the 75 mile drive to have all my services done there.
While there for my 1000 mile new engine oil change, I noticed they had an outstanding deal on a 2017 Arctic White Z06 + Z07. I asked them to entertain the idea of switching just to see where things fell. They went out of their way to make it happen and it did
Yes I ate a little $ but it wasn't bad and it was worth it for me.
Old:
2017 Sterling Blue Silver Grand Sport A8 2LT
New:
2017 Arctic White Z06 + Z07 M7 2LT
Its nice to have a manual & supercharger again
Full disclosure... I'm going to get some hate for this but...
Z06 definitely has the power, but the Grand Sport does feel like the better track car. Not necessarily more capable, but quicker turn in and lighter revs, I can tell the z06 will require more effort. Just saying. In any case, I'm a once a year track guy, so what do I know.
PS -- For anyone that is wondering -- The upgraded aero front spoiler (the hard one) on my z06 does not scrape in my drive way, even though the plastic unpainted one on my Grand Sport did scrape. So... for anyone worried about scraping, there ya go.

Here's my .02 on the GS / Z06 thing. It's not some revelation, but I think it is an appropriate analogy.
I used to race motorcycles and the Z06 is like a liter bike (1000cc bike...the big boy) There is no question it is the more powerful, bad ***, and faster bike. Is it the most fun to race? No it is not.
It takes a lot of work to toss the bike around and to get everything out of it. You need to be on your A game every moment...a little too much throttle out of the corner and you are high siding it. Is it fun to race...hell yes they are! It's just a beast and you have to respect it at all times.
The GS is more like a 600. It's 9/10 as fast as a liter bike around the track, but it's just more fun to race. It's easier to turn in, it will not kill you the moment you give it too much throttle and you can go nearly as fast as the liter bike. To me 600s were the sweet spot for fun.
This is not some justification for buying one vs the other...whatever floats your boat and makes you happy. I have mad respect and love for the Z06, it is a marvel of engineering. I'd have one if I could have more then one sports car. With room for only one, the GS is just awesome. It's my 600 race bike.
So with that all said, I understand exactly where the OP is coming from and it makes perfect sense to me.

Very well put! I have a liter bike (2014 Triumph Speed Triple R) and have had several 600s and 750s and I agree with your analogy 100%.
I love flickable cars and bikes, but I also love low end grunt.
Considering I'm a once-a-year track guy and do not have ***** of steel, I'd likely play it safe with either car -- so why not have the street monster

gs too z06
I did the same thing traded my 2017 Gs for a 2017 Zo6 will be here in 2 weeks being built on Monday !!
My Gs listed out for 98,425 cdn trade in they gave me was 91,000 but they for got I only paid 92,425 so big win !! new Z06 is Z07 loaded and convertible list on it is 129,500 they took 7000 off MSRP and up here in Canada 2.4% interest I was paying 5% on GS so I think I was a smart move , also a white Z06

Well....I think I figured it out - you have a VERT!! But you've never before seen a coupe!!!
The verts don't have the vent, but all coupes have vents on top of the rear fenders/quarter panels.
The Stingray has a "flat" vent, and the Z06 has a "raised/scoop" vent.
Z06 above with the "scoop" sticking up above the vent
Below is a Stingray with the "flat" vent
