Key fob troubles
i have a 99 with the older key fobs. My problem is every time I open the door to the garage the car unlocks then locks. I have played with the passive switch with no results. I took the key fob apart and checked the slider switch, everything looked good. I also did the solder fix because it was loosing sync after 30 min or so. Can I disable the passive on the inside of the fob somehow?

My 99 was doing that too. I was somewhat unfamiliar with how the passive locks work since I just got the car. Would have the keys on my desk which is within 30 feet of where the car is in the garage (manual says 30 feet is the effective range). Any time I would bump or walk by my desk I'd hear the horn go off on the car.
I forget exactly what I did to stop it because, like you, my switch didn't seem to have any effect. I messed around in the DIC a little bit and disabled the auto lock feature and was able to slide the passive switch to "off" on the fob. There were some bugs after that with the fob not always working to unlock manually but they seem to have worked themselves out. Does not seem to be a way to disable passive from the DIC aside from the auto lock feature, so I just set the passive to drivers side only and turned off auto lock. Hope this helps, I'm still not sure why switching it to off on the fob didn't work in the first place.

If you continue to have problems, from what I understand you can get a fob for a '00 and it will work once programmed to the car. It does not have the passive switch.

I had the same problem with my 99. The Key FOB Passive Lock/Unlock drove me nuts. The slide switch on the FOB turns the Passive System on or off. I leave my Passive Switch in the off position and the system works fine. The manual buttons still work for lock and unlock.
Might be time for a new Key FOB for your car.

The key fob on my '98 was driving me nuts too. I couldn't get the passive feature to shut off no matter what I did. After searching threads on many forums I finally found the answer. With the fob passive switch in the on position walk up to your car until it unlocks. Now walk away until you see or hear your car lock. Now move your fob passive switch to the off position. The passive feature should now be off.
