1961 Jewel Blue is sold
After 29 years and 24K miles of enjoyment, I sold my '61 today to an avid restorer who plans several upgrades. I have many great memories of car shows, cruises, judging meets and conventions with that jewel. The buyer is a neighbor to my son so I will get to see it and maybe drive it once in a while.
It was hard to see it go but I still have my '57 (avatar) and my '86 original owner coupe to play with.

Good, in a way, that you'll be able to still see it, and maybe even drive it. I went through seller's remorse when I sold my '58 that I'd had for over 27 years. I'm glad, though, that it went out of state, and I don't see it around. It would be harder for me to see it, than not. I remember you telling us of the need to thin the herd, so, I'm assuming that you're happy that its gone, and that you've still got those other two. As I mentioned before, its hard to imagine taking your car "to the next level", as its pretty good right now. Beautiful looking car. Best of luck to you as you spend more time now with those other ones.

Beautiful 61. It must have been tough to see that one go. I've had my 61 for 35 years and just can't see selling it. I'm sure that day will come, but not now.

The buyer has owned and restored C2s, C3s, C4s and C5s. This is his first C1. I told him he is going to have a whole new experience in Corvettes. After he test drove the '61 he immediately gave me the thumbs up.
Yes, it was a bit hard to see the '61 leave on the trailer. My wife actually cried. I was glad when the buyer called me to tell me he made it home with no problems.
I gave him lots of manuals, judging guides and other literature along with some new and used parts. He was very happy.

You going to look in the garage hundred times, and there won't be nothing there, to see, I know I did it when I sold my car, but then bought another to fill void.

A '61 is definitely one to keep, IMO.....nothing like a '61....first year of the duck tail, big trunk, last year of the dual quads and wide whites, last year of the Motorama door panels, last year of the cove trim, and on and on.

Wow. Beautiful car! Congrats on the sale. The only thing that made me feel ok about selling any of my cars is knowing a could start hunting for a replacement. Even then it wasn't easy...ever.

It's nice to see another jewel blue that was in MN. We have one with the unpainted coves as well. Family owned since 1970. We know of at lease 3 others in the Twin Cities area, but those have painted coves.

Congrats on the sale. Nice car and great taste. Don't know if I would like the buyer nearby. Your son is going to be reporting. "Dad - you should see what my neighbor is doing with your car!"
