Default Ambient Temp & Hood Light error

As I fix little problems on my newly acquired 2000 C5, I discovered today why my ambient temp sensor was throwing an error code. The wire that should have been plugged into the sensor had been plugged into the wire that should have been feeding the hood light. I'm guessing this should have caused some problems somewhere. 12 volts going down a sensor wire. Anyone have experience with this?

Sounds like the front of the car has been apart at some point, possibly at a body shop. Definitely an odd mix up. GM does use a lot of connectors that can inadvertantly be mixed up, I suppose it's a possibility that that has happened here. Sounds like you have it figured out though.

If you switch the plugs to the correct location,, what happens? Have you checked the hood light fuse???
