c6z to c7gs back to c6z .. anyone do it?
looking at a c7gs to replace my rfz.. have owned since new and have totally enjoyed the car. new gsce is tempting me.. anyone here go from c6z to c7gs and back and if so why? my main concern will be missing the ls7, i love that engine...
have asked over in c7 section also, just trying to get as much input from real world experience as possible. thanks

I drove a friends c7gs recently. The c7gs was....boring. It was a super nice, smooth, good looking car; but, it seriously lacked the excitement and brute force of my c6z.
If smooth and composed is what you're after, I think you'll be happy in the c7gs. If not, keep your c6z.

A C7 GS w/ Katech Street Attack C7 427 (700hp/620tq) would be a potent combo...but that's a $24K engine upgrade.

Can't recall any C7 owners coming back to '6 Z06, although there're 2 members who came back to a C6.
Their issue was space, C7 was too damned cramped for them.
Having sat in a few 7s I'd have to agree, big reason why I kept my C6 Z06. Well that and LS7's more than adequate passing power.

Would you trade a c5z for a C6 GS? To some it's a no brainer to go for the newer model, while others love the rawness and low cost of a C5z. Same comparison with the C6 and C7. Only you can make that call, but I personally would go for the newer model.

I personally can't justify going to a more expensive high teens 1/4 trap speed car from a 125mph trap speed car, straight line wise the difference will be too noticeable to my butt dyno
The C7 has undeniably better interior and technologies, I am not denying that at all. The C6Z should also be closer to bottoming out vs. the C7 is just starting its depreciation curve, so that's something else to consider as well
Drive a C7GS and I think the answer will be clear. I drove a c7 with z51 and manual transmission before getting my C6Z so I have no regrets

the c7 engine (lt1 is it?) just doesn't rev like the ls7.. It feels like a typical chevy V8. The LS7 seems like it's just lighter and freer reving.
I've driven a c7z51 on a track. I agree with the boring part. It's boring like any really nicely balanced car is. It's a great car, but not as fast as a C6Z06 or as fun.
as someone who completely filled the rear of my C6 with kid stuff on trips with my son, and also put my road bike in it simply by removing the front wheel (52cm), I agree with the space issue - but that is a boring argument compared to SPEED.

Drove my friends C7 Z....Nice car. If you're looking for something civilized then that's the car you want. As long as you can fit in it. I'm 6 foot and 200 lbs and I'm at the end of it. You can forget sitting in the passenger seat unless you're a chick. So long story short it just does not have the brute force of the LS7 and I'm not ready to give that up.
575 RWHP and 500 trq. Standard H/C/I/ here. Maybe when I get older. I'm only 60 now.

I have yet to even sit in a C7 yet. Not sure about the looks too. Took my Z to a small cruise in a coupe of weeks ago. About 25-30 cars, 2 of which were C7's. My 2006 got quite a bit more attention than either C7.

after almost 12 years i no longer have a c6z . great great car that i enjoyed to the max. the c7 gs is what the evolution of the corvette should be. it does everything better in my opinion. i was a little sad taking the last ride in it to pick up the gs, but that went away as soon as i left the lot in the new one

I went from a 2007 H/C C6Z to a 2017 C7Z w/A8. I have no regrets at all. When I originally sold my C6Z I had sellers remorse and though I had made a huge mistake. That feeling ended when I saw the new car for the first time.
It's a very different car more modern and civilized. With all of the advancements comes weight at 3,500 pounds. I got the most basic 1LZ model available with zero options.
My old Z was just a raw vehicle at 3,100 pounds and 556 all motor V8 RWHP. I would also say it is faster than the new Z in it's current stock form.
People have different opinions and it's all a matter of personal choice.

So to summarize:
Somehow the C7Z's are slower than the C6Z (albeit modified by owners), but still "better" than the c6Z with A8.
Curious. That does sound like "personal preference".
As time goes by I appreciate my manual, nanny-optional c6z more and more. I understand the "civility" of the newer gen. In general I prefer cars that are both faster, and more manual. But to each his own.
