Default My Lingenfelter 720 story (make sure your intercooler has fluid)

The car had the following mods before Lingenfelter:
haltech cai
borla x
magnaflow comp exhaust

I took my 16 M7 to a local speed shop to have Lingenfelter 720 kit installed.
Their base dyno said 520 on a dyno jet (low)
Shop installs LPE 720
Tunes
Final dyno result was increase in hp and tq until 5500 and then it falls back to stock
I bring it back say it's running like ****
Shop attempts to retune with no luck
Shop calls Lingenfelter, they suggest maybe the cats are plugged
Shop states significant back pressure
I take car to dealer to confirm back pressure, dealer says cats are fine
Shop calls dealer and finds out that they tested cats at idle only
Shop suggest we gut headers for testing purposes, I agree
Headers gutted car makes more power on dyno but blows front crank seal
Shop replaces crank seal and I ask them to keep pulley on and return to stock tune
AT THIS POINT I GIVE UP ON THIS SHOP, THINK ABOUT TRADING CAR IN

I take my car to Tom Wong of Wongs Performance, he's a top corvette guy on the west coast.
Tom sniffs out the problem quickly, they're zero coolant in my blower. Tom rigged some filling mechanism and got some fluid in there, boom+40hp immediately. Tom says get the air out and it will make significantly more power. So I just got it back from the dealership, who filled the intercooler, and haven't got it on the dyno yet.

This process took about 5 weeks beginning to end and was a nightmare. I encourage everyone to make sure that their blower has juice in it. I live in Seattle and have been driving my car all winter. I never noticed the decrease in power because 530 to the wheels feels incredibly fast in the rain.

The car runs great finally and the lower pulley really wakes it up.

How do you check the coolant level in your Intercooler/blower ?

----Originally tried to send you this via PM, but your mailbox is full so it wouldnt let me----- Feel free to PM me back if you dont feel comfortable responding here..

I read your forum post about the shop that installed your mods then failed to notice you didnt have any coolant in your intercooler. I live in Bothell and bought a new Z06 a couple weeks back. I have been researching what shops do what around here and was wondering if you could tell me the name of the shop you had do the original work to your car.

I have an akrapovic evolution exhaust on order and should be here in a couple days. While this shouldnt be a major project for a good shop, I had a bad experience with an exhaust install on a GT500 (CNC Motorsports) and had been doing this type of stuff on my own. I dont want to mess up a Z06 so would prefer someone who knows what they are doing do the install; I just dont want to get ripped off or run into a situation like you had to deal with.

Thanks for your help and I am glad to hear you got everything straightened out on your car. I plan on doing similar mods once my warranty is up...

I think the real answer is "Next time, go to Tom Wong first!"

Took car to dyno yesterday after I got it back from dealership. Dynoed 493. I almost puked. I could feel it fighting me during the run. Pissed off i drove straight to carmax. They offered 38k. Fuel to the fire. I get home and come up with the idea to check intercooler fluid, empty. A leak, of course there's a leak! Duh. That's how it became empty in the first place. Frustrating to say the least. Going back into dealership today.

If supercharger is empty the tank on the passenger fender might be worth checking and keeping an eye on for a while after the leak fix. At first like every day or time before going for a drive.

When the coolant is completely cold after sitting for a good while "I" would put a dot on the coolant tank with a magic marker at the top of the coolant, if you mess up wipe it off and try again. Always check it under the same conditions (cold). The mark helps me in making it a quick check otherwise I would fine myself thinking; gee is that a little lower than last time.

I'd think that in the end you should be making 600-620rwhp if the kit is rated at 720 crank.

Altho Tom Wong's shop is not really close to Seattle residents, he's been on C6 since the start and car after car going to him has had problems solved, power added, pieces reworked, etc. There's a very long history with his shop, so the adage about drive a little for good work should be changed: drive to where you can safely get the work done properly. Period.

That's 180 miles, or about 3 hours for me. Not bad but that's 6 hours to drop off, 6 hours to pick up... that really adds up!

I'm in the same boat. I ended up hanging out with Tom and shooting the **** while he diagnosed and tuned my car. I left seattle about 530am and got home about 530pm.

Still laughable unless ragged. Look the car up nationwide auctions without pics or auto check history moot point. They sell in the low 70s unless base. So should be offering you 63ish to be fair.

Why do you think roadsters are selling for less right now? Looking at the "Sold" auctions that actually completed on eBay, they're about 4-7K more than coupes so far as I can see. Granted that's down from the 10K premium new.

I figured the cheap ones would be white 1LZ coupes, if anything.

Tom Wong is extremely reputable here in the PNW so there really isn't reason for him to ship his car half way across the country when he's a 3 hour drive away.
