Default Can't find a definitive answer on this... simple yes or no please.

Do the door panels have to be removed to get the windows tinted? My buddy has a VR Z06 like mine and wants to know.. searched google and didn't get an actual answer but from what I could read it sounded like no they don't need removing. He nor myself would NOT tint if door panels had to come off at a tint shop. Hell no.

Thanks!

No - I watched mine being done. The tinter should know just to trick the window indexing with the door opened by closing the latch at the striker.....and not forgetting to release it before actually closing the door.

Simple answer

No if you don't care about the tint not getting far enough down on the window where it meets the edge/gasket at the top of the panel.

Yes if you want it done right, and prevent any issues with that lower gasket rubbing against the edge of the tint at the bottom of the window.

The best tinters will either remove the panel or loosen it enough to get that tint way below that gasket to prevent issues.

The best tinters, like the one that did mine, can do that without messing with the door panel at all.

The place I had my vehicles done, loosened up the panels and ran the tint down inside about 1/4"

My tint is below the door panel level, and he didn't have to do anything to the panel to do so.

I've never had a tinter remove my door panels on any kind of car nor would I want them to.

NO......Further, If a tinter said he was going to remove the door panels, it would have been a deal breaker for me.
