Default WTB: Atomic Orange or Inferno Orange ZR1

I have owned a 1999 Hugger Orange Super Sport Camaro, a 1967 Tangelo Orange Nova and currently have a 1961 Ford Starliner in House of Kolors Tangelo Orange with a powder blue pearl coat.

I am now seeking an Atomic or Inferno Orange ZR1. I know they are very, very rare, but I'd like to try and hopefully be patient enough to find one.

If anyone knows of one for sale or someone who may be enticed to sell theirs, please let me know. I am also willing to pay a finders fee if I buy one you send my way.

Send me an email, text, phone call, carrier pigeon, smoke signals, sky writer, etc to let me know.

Edit: BTW I love that lambo with the vette body kit in your avatar

Default Good luck !!

They are out there, you have to be diligent in your quest.

I spent 2 full years and 3 missed opportunities before I got my 09/AO ZR1.

If you do not look multiple times a day using many search methods and be ready to place a deposit or buy site unseen you will most likely never get one.

A CF member got the one I missed 2x's in 2015, his is one VIN before mine, so they are sequential identical ZR1's.

I tried everything I could to get that car in 2015, but missed out, it took another member here to alert me to one on Texas last May, I bought it site unseen an in less that a week after finding it went to get it in Texas.

There are 35 AO/ZR1's.........many never come up for sale.

There are actually only 34 now that might be for sale as mine never will be sold, and at 48 years old it will be 30-40 years before my kids get a shot at it!!!.

I know one that is for sale here, Dennis Gonzolez, #54 of the campaigned cars from 2009.

IIRC there are only 69 Inferno Cars.

Wish you luck !!!

I was about to say look at the one at Corvetteworld, but it looks like that's gone.......this is truly the unicorn ZR1 and I'm sure those few that own them will not give them up lightly. Prepare to pay some $.....but I think it would be worth it to own something so rare.

Still looking...i was given two different prices for the one above, one being $80k asking which is about $15k above normal. I don't mind paying a little more (in 2015 one with full Caravaggio interior sold for $74,500) for the color but not $15k more. Sounds like a low mileage car so if anyone else is looking, send Patrick a message.

80k REALLY come on, thats ridiculous, just like some dealers still marking 2010's at mid 70ties. Its just not gonna happen.

Those are my thoughts exactly. I was willing to bite at the $70k mark, but then being called back saying $80k...not going to happen. Nice low mile, albeit 5-7 years older, Lambos and Ferraris go for those prices at dealer auctions. Am sitting here watch it happen at the Manheim Dallas-Ft Worth Grander sale.

You will find many, many examples of low mileage and well cared for ZR1-3ZR in the colors that are common to Corvettes, Black, Red, Yellow, Various Blues.

The sought after 1 year only colors or 2 year only colors with super low production numbers will cost you more $$$$.

The cost is driven by the market, as always there is a price a seller is willing to accept and a price a buyer is willing to pay.

The only issue you will have is finding a dealer that does not know what they have and mistakenly sells it for average price.

2 years ago I missed the AO/ZR1 and it had 1380 miles and sold for $64K, 6 months later I missed the same car again with 3300 miles IIRC for $69K.

I luckily got mine last year with a tick under 7K miles for $60K.

But that one from "Glen Quagmire" was a deal, and you probably won't find another deal unless you get lucky.

I feel your pain on that search, its frustrating as the color is really what you are buying, the cars are all the same under the paint.

Corvette World in Dallas had a 2013 IO ZR1 3ZR with like 1.5k miles on it not too long ago, the ad is still up on AutoTrader but it is no longer on their website. Was asking $79.9k for it.

Thanks all and I will look on there. Won't buy from Patricks dealership after receiving this text from the supposed general manager. It is a Canadian car and issues with that topped off with absolute rude general manager. I have bought many cars and some motorcycles sight unseen and didn't have to step a foot in dealerships to do it. I have a used car dealership myself and mentioned to Patrick a used Ferraricoukd he had for his $80k asking since I was at the auction when we spoke.

Rodrigo, you should probably stick with purchasing used Ferraris. The car was bought with the intent to sell, at the right price, at my price. We won't have any trouble selling, it's one of 7 in its color combo, with 7800 miles, 1-owner, no excuses car. I won't sell it for 70, I won't for 75 either. I won't sell it unless the customer comes to the store, signs in person, and can prove who they are. This ISN'T THE CAR OR DEALERSHIP FOR YOU BUDDY. Have a great day.

I'd tell him he's right...it wont sell for 70 or 75...it will be lower than that.

If someone has been looking for that exact car, then a price above market might be paid, but if someone is looking for just a ZR1, clean, well cared for and low mileage, regardless of color, then there are ample opportunities for a great car and at a fair price.

The newer and lower the mileage the more $$$$ its going to cost.

Good Luck

I noticed that in another post that you could be interested in a VY ZR1 that another member was looking at, IF, his deal did not go through. What that tells me, although your preference is to find either AO or IO, you are open to other colors if the mileage and price is right for you. If that is correct I would suggest looking at the sticky thread that has all the production numbers for the ZR1 paint colors. I too was looking for a ZR1, but was not interested in the typical Black, Red, Yellow, or White. What I did was to search for any ZR1 and just quickly eliminated the colors that were not of interest to me and were more popular. I eventually found a '10 3LZ in Crystal Red (to me this color does not fall into the Red category) with 3500 miles on it. The production numbers are not as low because it was produced for 4 production years. But with that many years, they still only produced about 265 units, which is about 5% of the total production numbers. After a lengthy but cordial negotiation, I wound up paying just a tad north of $60k and am totally happy with my purchase.

Now, this might not be the right color for you, just an example of not pushing myself into a corner on color. As an example, if you look at the blue colors, you will find some very low production numbers except for Jetstream Blue. Silver is also a low production color. But if one of the orange colors is what is going to make you happy, then stay the course and realize that it might take some patience to find exactly what you want.

Good luck with your search and I hope when you find it you will be as happy with yours and I am with mine! Mine is pictured below and I have owned it for about a month.

Rich
