2017 Z06 choppy acceleration below 4k
Forgive me, I've posted this in the general discussion area but am hoping for better traction here.
Accelerating w/ moderate throttle (60-70% or more) anywhere less than 4k rpm the car just chokes and cuts in and out. After 4k it stops choking but doesn't feel like full power, my stock 2015 ZL1 was definitely faster.
This problem has been happening since day one, I thought it'd go away but it hasn't.
I'm begging for help -- if anyone has any ideas, I'm willing to try anything.
I'm willing to pay a reward to someone if they figure it out! I'm desperate.
The details:
2017 Z06 7M w/ Z07
I bought it new with 8 miles on the clock.
I now have about 750 miles.
I did the 500 mile break in at 500 miles on the dot.
What I've tried:
- Tried asking the dealer service guys, no help.
- I'm currently running California 91 octane gas + 100 octane race gas mixed in to reach 94 octane. No help.
- I tried plugging in my scan tool, no KR.
- I tried jiggling the spark plugs.
- I bought Tony Mamo's Ported Throttle Body, some help but not much.
- Pulled Fuse #4 ECM Fuse for 10 minutes and tried relearning the ECM but no luck.
- Tried with and without the DPP fuse #42 no discernible difference.
Going to try:
- Considering getting a tune, but I think there is something wrong with my car and would like it resolved before I get a tune.
- Praying...

Damn, that sucks. You have the black Corvette cloud following you! Good luck, I hope you get it sorted!

Call Abel Chevrolet in Rio Vista and ask for Rich in service I am sure he can help. There are quite a few corvette owners that take their corvettes for service and repairs. I am one of them.
Good Luck !

Do you have the PDR in your car? If so record a run. Normally I wouldn't advise turning TC off in a Z06 but find a safe place, be ready to take action, and see how it responds with TC off.

I can't imagine it feeling slower than your ZL1. Even my GS feels as fast as the ZL1.

The owner at Abel is cool -- I let him drive it and told him how to reproduce the problem and he said his Z06 does the same thing. When he drove it only exhibited mild symptoms. Most of the time its mild, but sometimes its REALLY bad, like full throttle cut for 1/4 second then back on (traction control completely off).
So not sure what to do next but as it is my car is just for show...

Haven't you already had two motors replaced under warranty (forgive me if I've mistaken you for a different member)? If so, the LAST thing you want is a tune. You are definitely on the "Keep my warranty" track.

In any case, you're 100% right, a tune is my last resort but I'll do it if it's my only option, but only if I know it can be resolved with a tune. I'd hate to throw away my warranty for nothing.

The PDR recording will be great for those on the forums as well as for your records as you deal with the dealers on this issue. Always nice to have a video and telemetry.

Does it feel like the throttle is not 100% even though the loud pedal is to the floor? Check out this screen shot, it's killing me now...20 mph and 3300rpm and that's when it starts to ramp in 100%.

I don't guess it could be the actual pedal itself? ?? I mean with the "drive -by-wire" thing almost makes me think that could be the problem. but I could be completely wrong also.

I think it has something to do with the AFM. It seems to happen randomly and most often when the car is not "awake". It's also most apparent when entering boost and below 4k.

AFM isn't active with your M7 unless you have the driver mode set to Eco

I used the PDR to record a video of me driving around town reproducing the issue -- but when I watched the video there was no sound and nothing useful could be learned from watching the rpm, throttle or G meter.

BTW - I have the same HP Tuners tool. I tried recording with the tool but couldn't find anything useful.
Let me know if you figure it out and I'll let you know if I figure it out!
PS - sending you a PM.
