Default BMS drop in filter for C7 Stingray - Need a couple testers

Hey guys,

We recently released a new dry drop in filter that removes the true restriction within the factory airbox, allowing it to flow as well as aftermarket intakes... Details of the testing and development here: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...d-r-and-d.html

Thanks,
T

*** Update ***

Was able to get 3 C7 LT1s to test the new drop in filter out and so far feedback has been positive. Working well without the need of aftermarket tuning! Hopefully we can get some more feedback posted to this thread and start to spread the word.

So far results have been positive. No codes and cars feel faster... How popular are aftermarket intake systems for the C7 LT1 anyway?

I wouldn't mind testing if you still need it. I have a 786 whp car on stock air box.

Pretty popular, especially the AFE. They did a good job cornering the market with their initial release group-buy on the forum. Many of us have been running them for almost 3 years now without issue or complaint.

I've been following your thread in the Z06 section and do find it very interesting. Nice work redesigning the sealing flange to open up additional airflow. There's another company, Attack Blue, that has found a way to squeeze a physically larger air filter element into the stock airbox cage. Any thoughts on their design?

Terry.....before I got your filter I was considering the Afe & K&N intakes, but after reading the gains and the cost of each unit, the Cost of Benefit was not worth it to me.

Your filter hit the sweet spot for me on both.

Thanks

Hey Terry,

I've helped on test fits from BMS on my 335i in the past. I just picked up a 2015 Z51 - let me know if you end up needing any other testers (here or your forums). Sorry I missed this thread!

I'd be pleased to learn if Terry's filter can be installed on a base LT1 2016 Stingray without the need for {warranty-voiding} tuning.

If Terry needs other testers, I will volunteer my car. 2016 Base Coupe Stock LT1 A8 ~3600 miles.
I have the AutoEnginuity OBD2 (OBDII) Scan and logging tool with the GM-family (EI02) interface if that helps.

Based on testing done so far looks like it's fully compatible with all C7 applications. So you're good to go. I'd love to see some reviews pop up on this forum to help spread the word.

  • Hi Terry,

Are there any HP or TQ gains or any issues using your BMS air filter on a base model totally stock 2016 Stingray?

Have you put a totally stock base Stingray on your dyno and done a baseline and then on the dyno with your BMS air filter?
  •
  • And is there only one BMS air filter for all C7 models? Is the BMS air filter the same filter for a Stingray the same filter for the Z06, Grand Sport, and Z51?

We have not done any stingray dyno testing, but it's fully compatible. Same filter fits the Z07 & all other C7s as they use the same airbox system.

Terry,

What is the benefit of using your BMS filter?
Are there any HP or TQ gains?
Any better E.T.'s ?
Any issues on any totally stock base Stingray?

Is this filter cleanable, or is it considered disposable?

I'd expect a Stingray to pickup a few HP, same as they would with an aftermarket intake system. But I do not have any performance numbers on the Stingray. The primary market is for the Z06... But a few Stingrays have installed it since they run the same airbox configuration and reported positive feedback.

The filter is dry paper media to ensure OEM like filtration and should be replaced every 25-30k miles. You can blow it out with compressed air to extend the life if you'd like.

Terry, don't you have a dyno at your shop, or access to one?

I agree, I would also like to see back to back before and after dyno results like the other air filter vendors provide.

Would like to see if the Burger Motorsports Air Filter makes any performance difference on the base Stingray.

Seat of the pants feel.is so often tainted by the brain wanting to believe there is a performance improvement because the money was spent on the product, when in fact it did not make any difference.

Terry,
Would you please do a before and after dyno test on the base Stingray so that we will know if spending a $100 on your BMS air filter is of any improvent value please?
