Default Who can "fix" my heads!

Car currently has 8600 miles and is under factory warranty until November. At that time I plan to have the heads fixed. I will be pulling and re installing the heads myself. Who is the go to for fixing these? What is the cost associated with it?

Lots of good places. WCCH, AHP, AI. $1500-$2000. AHP has the Moldstar 90 guides.

Late Model Engines in Houston TX. I have a set of theirs with 20K miles on them. Good to go and their machine shop is awesome.

Is $$ a factor? Shipping? Porting? Core or ship yours in for rebuild?

My buddy just got his dyno'd. 94 pump... He has AI full 280cc heads, milled .015. Torquer 110. KB 103 CAI. LG 1 7/8 Super Pros(catless) and Corsa Sports. Stock TB and LS7 intake... safe tune corrected a safe 581 rwhp. Do not remember tq.

When they leaned it out a bit too much they hit 612 rwhp. Very impressive IMO. He says 3rd gear and up is now a bat outta hell. A complete beast that pushes him deep in to the seat. Haven't had a ride yet. Wish I could do a cam...

There is a C5Z on KC craigslist right now that had a shop in Lebanon do some engine work. I personally had the guys at Restomod and Justune in KC do my fixed WCCH heads and the following re-tune.

I plan to do an ECS supercharger and keep everything else stock. Because of this I just want the heads fixed without porting or milling.

I will probably buy more and send mine back as a core.

slammin86,

I can take care of ya. I've got them in cut and ready to ship on the shelf OR, if your attached to your current castings I can have them cut in 5 days and sent back your way.

$1900 shipped with core provided. You'll receive all new CHE bronze valve guides as well as new manley exhaust valves. We reuse the Del-west titanium valve after cleanup. If you have any other questions at all, fire away.

I purchased new Texas Speed & Performance PRC265 heads with Ti intakes and SS exhausts. I did not have them milled as I didn't want to raise the CR as finding anything above 91 is near impossible anymore. They do not use the GM castings and flow better than the GM heads. 100% of the parts used on the new castings are also new.

I then sold my old GM heads using the for sale section of this forum.

I have nearly 30,000 miles on them in the past four years with no problems.

I chose to go with aftermarket castings because of the disagreement of the root cause, correct fix, and uncertainty of the longevity of the fix. In the end, it cost me about the same as sending my heads to AHP/WCCH but I had no downtime and I had 100% new parts.

Whoops.. forgot to add the details of what I chose and how long I've been running them

TFS265 as-cast. They were merely inspected and bolted on. Required new pushrods.
Installed about a year a half ago, with only about 8k miles.
Car makes over 650 rwhp with an A&A supercharger for at least 5k of those miles.

If you plan on putting 10's of thousands of miles and keeping the Z and the build for years and years and don't wanna touch the heads again, I'd go Hardened PM guides. AHP only has these. You said you don't want port or mill. Just new guides for reliability? Some say this is still not a 100% fix. Well then I guess we all wait or sell our C6Z's and wait for C12 ZRX vettes in 2038. If Earth is still here.

I started a similar thread for our area (I'm in Wichita, KS). There were 2 or 3 other suggestions for the KC/OK/TX area.

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ta-kansas.html

Edit: I see the OP was going to swap the heads himself. Probably not as relevant.
