Very common. Some here have "sleeved" those pins with hollow metal hardware store stock. Some squeeze the snot out of the visor pin channels; here is a thread on both methods:

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...sor-droop.html

You need a special tool to tighten those screws; I sell them for $49.95 (shipping included)!

Under priced..... I made mine a out of a little longer tool so I could really wrench on the screws. I would have priced mine at $75 plus shipping but with my discount coupon I would have reduced it to $3.95 and free shipping.

You have to watch cranking down on those visor screws....you can snap them off really fast... I don't know what they are made out of but its not very tough at all...

Another issue is the reproduction visors themselves. If you remove the visor from the car and lay a towel over the area where the pin is inserted you can gently tap downward on it and squash down the metal inside the visor. This makes the visor tight on the pin.... Same trick works for old original visors... you just tap and test fit the pin.

Then you buy Frankie's tool (or make your own ) and you should be able to get the screws to tighten up enough to get the visors to stay up.

I purchased some pins several months back for my 65. They were smaller in diameter as well as slightly different. When you view the pics below, keep in mind that I do not know if the "old" pins are original. But they did work better so I reused them.

Don't know why the bottom pic is sideways...sorry.

thanks wilcox, my visors are original. i just did not like the look of the rusty looking pins and screws after sitting so long.. now WHY would a repop company not make them properly to match. this sucks..

MAYBE they are for a C1 or some completely other model and they are just listing it for a C2 also.. once upon a time, that was done a LOT.,..

well you are correct, i just dug my originals out, and the are completly different. what a shame, we depend on and trust the aftermarket companys to copy/reman these peices too oem standards with very poor results. from what i have seen. this really is a pain now i need to try and find a good set of original pins...

if they are not 'trash' (and not much on a corvette seems to be trashworthy these days...), they certainly have got to be better than the repros. kinda like 'the enemy you know is better than the enemy you don't know'...)

I just went through this with my visors. The repro pins are junk. First of all.....all 4 pins are mare exactly the same size. The originals were different sizes. The two outside pins were made alike and the two inside pins were made alike, but different than the original outside pins.......they had a slightly different curve, than the outside pins. You can use two of the repros on the outside of your visors, but on the inside, you must use the original inside pins...... if you want your visors to go up and down properly. It is amazing that the aftermarket can't make four pins, exactly like the originals.

Aint that something, yours is exactly opposite from mine.

My original = long
My replacements = shorter

Of course, I do not know if mine were born with the car. The replacements you received look to be a perfect match to my old ones that I am still using.

Did you order "C"(yellow highlight) from the above list?(69-76 pins). Maybe that's what has been put in my car before I got it.

No, I bought the kit for 63 to 67. "65 vette dude" suggested their were different inner and outer pins for 63 to 67, but actually it is the 69 and up cars that are configured like that.
