Default 3d boxcar, midnight train, destination Belfast, Maine

Thanks to everyone for suggesting shippers for the red thing. It's safely in its new home. Looking forward to lots and lots of driving between June and October from now on and Friday afternoon cruises with the local antiques ending at Wasse's Hot Dogs parking lot. Never again have to sit in traffic in 100 degree heat and humidity with no AC.

Fellow CF members close by, or even not close by always welcome.

I'm still in Texas for another 2 weeks. The wife is already in Maine. Had the place in Belfast since '03 but am just now using the place for what was intended, not to be within a thousand miles of the gulf coast during the summer. Keeping my principal residence in Texas, tho. Will spend the winters here and head north for the summer. Guess that makes me one of those snowbirds. A long held dream finally come to pass!

He left out the "r", he meant 3rd. It's a line from the old Roger Miller song King Of The Road:

"Third boxcar, midnight train
destination Bangor Maine"

Smokin' old stogies he has found, no doubt.

And if he's just bought an old Corvette, he's now as poor as the King of the Road in the song, or soon will be.

Roger that, Jack, thanks.

Yeah, the thread title was lifted from "King of the Road."

Thanks, all, for the good wishes.

I spent 19 months working in the Bangor area, 'lobsta' was so cheap when I was there that the Red Lobster chain went out of business in Maine (3 for $10 in local restaurants, even cheaper roadside...); you could even get lobster rolls at McDonalds....

Lobsta heaven for sure. My wife and I were up in Bar Harbor in our motorhome 2 years ago. Stayed for a week in a KOA Kampground. Every evening around 5pm, this guy would arrive, set up cooking pots across from us, and proceed to cook his lobster catch for the day. I could just walk over and get my lobster fix along with corn on the cob, cole slaw, a bun, and blueberry pie. The ultimate take-out service.

Belfast ME used to have a small railroad running into town. Belfast & Moosehead Lake RR. No idea whether it's still operating but think I heard the locals wanted it gone so they could build more development.

If I lived up there I'd weigh 300 lbs. I don't know if one gets tired of lobster after a while, but I'd sure like to find out!

Snowbirds go to Florida & Arizona for the winter. "Winter Texans" come to Texas for the winter!
