Rice Burners
Today I was out in my vert.,top down sport mode. I came to a light and downshifted a couple of gears...man i love that rev matching burble!. Well a 2 door Honda something pulled up beside me making a god awful exhaust noise, sorta a cross between cow farts and a bleating lamb. He proceeded to look at me and reved that engine making more of the awful exhaust sounds. I looked at him and couldn't help laughing my *** off. This really pissed him off and he stated giving me all sorts of hand signals which caused me to even laugh more. Then he started calling me all sort of swears. So funny. When the light turned i let him haul ***. He did 0-60 in like 20 secs. What is with these kids and their rice burners?

When I encounter these guys I always tell them "Nice Car" regardless of what it is. They love it because it is what they can afford and they have probably put everything they have into it. When you see the smile on their face after you have told them "Nice Car" it is very rewarding. They feel really good about their car when the Guy in the $100k Corvette acknowledges them. Car Guys are Car Guys.

... and probably told his buddies that he blew the doors off a Vette.
I had a few beaters when I was young, so I'm not too hard on them. Maybe he was just admiring your car.

I would not have laughed at the guy, he probably just wanted you to throw some revs his way. I would have thrown him a couple of revs, but I would not have raced him on the street.

Just be aware that there are lots of beat up, old Honda Civics and especially CRX's running around with big turbos making 36# of boost.... fart cans included.
They can be 10 second cars and will shock and embarrass you street or strip.
Ask me how I know...

I am torn between an auto transmission and a manual. I really want the manual. Rev match is awesome. My wife and family want the auto. To me I would have total control of the power and sound with a stick.

You also have total control over the car itself. I went through the same thing. "We really ought to get an auto. Think of the children!" I thought about the children and bought a stick. I'm so happy I did so! It's been 20 years, and the stick is so awesome! It's like going home again to your first love. It took about 2 blocks to get back into it. And it's an EASY stick, too. It doesn't grab quickly. It's not too stiff. The gates are almost automatic (well, maybe not 7). 4th gear can do nearly anything (sufficient torque all along the speed band), and it's just such a joy to drive.
