2021 C6 of the Year Finalist - Modified
My ebay spoiler with hydrocarbon finish now installed (pics)
I finally removed my old RPI ZR1 style rear spoiler and replaced it.
I tried for over 2 1/2 months to get my C7 Carbon spoiler, but I got fed-up with there excuses as to why it never shipped ... So I ordered one of those ebay (made in China) ZR1 style rear spoilers that cost $170 with free shipping. This spoiler is made from hard ABS plastic and has no finish on it.
I had this ebay vendor mail the spoiler directly to Pat at American Hydrocarbon here in Florida.
American Hydrocarbon applied the "gunmetal" color carbon fiber design hydrographics to it, and then clearcoated it.
From the day they received the spoiler, to the day it arrived to me was just 2 weeks.
I was told by American Hydrocarbon that the spoiler looked great right out of the box and needed only the normal light sanding, prime and then coating ... very minimum prep right out of the box.
The spoiler fit my GS without any additional work too ... no grinding, no sanding, no cutting ... nadda ... nothing.
And there are no gaps between the spoiler and the top of the rear bumper cover where it mounts.
Anyway, for a $175 spoiler, this thing is a fantastic deal.

EDIT: I just went back to the ebay listing for this spoiler ... Since I bought mine, I see the price is now only $150 !

BTW ... The ZR1 style front chin splitter also is made in China and comes from the same ebay vendor ($165 with free shipping)

I have the same front splitter from eBay, people always assume it's OEM. no gaps or additional work was needed to make it fit.. I was skeptical on buying the rear spoiler but you just sold me on it.

LOOKS GREAT!
I am currently waiting the century for my C7 carbon fiber extended wing... ordered April 1...
I waited 8 weeks for my Carbon fiber extended skirts, even though I was told 3-4 weeks when I purchased the two items...

Meh Vette ...
Should be no problem. It's made from hard ABS plastic, and the clearcoat that American Hydrocarbon uses is a very high quality automotive finish material.
In fact, I have GS fender emblems that American Hydrocarbon finished for me that have been on my 2011 GS for 5 years now ... they look just like they did when I first installed them.

And, like I noted before ... The spoiler now has been reduced to $150 with free shipping ... Obviously, I didn't get in on that deal.

As far as installing this spoiler, the mount holes I previously drilled for my RPI spoiler were in the same place as I needed for this new ebay spoiler.
The mount holes are in the exact same place as they are for the actual ZR1.
I used the same mounting hardware that came off my old RPI spoiler. It's the same hardware the factory uses on the ZR1.
A total of 10 nuts hold this spoiler to the top of the bumper cover (exactly like on the factory ZR1).
