Hey Boston Joe, me thinks you are a frustrated film director in disguise
Have you had it out yet ?
I think you will like the results of the Z-Cool tunnel blanket on your console temps, seems to me that it lowered mine quite a bit

Yes. Got it out finally. Love it and I do look forward to putting the phone in the center console connected to USB and not getting the overheating that used to occur.
cheers🍻

Good video, and really a super clean car!
I had basically a setup much like yours on my 2011 GS (A6).
I installed Pfadt long tube headers with the Pfadt x-pipe with cats. The car also had the NPP mufflers (but not the Mild to Wild).
With the NPP valves normally closed, the car was just about as quiet as it was with the stock exhaust manifolds, as long as the NPP valves remained closed. I was actually surprised that the exhaust was not louder than when stock.
However, at wide open throttle (WOT), when the valves would open, the exhaust became much much louder than it was before installing the headers ... To my ears, the car was obnoxiously loud at WOT.
The only fix to this was to remove the NPP mufflers and replace them with a set of Borla 'Touring' mufflers.
With the Borla Touring mufflers, during idle and normal driving, the car is slightly louder than it was with the NPP ... but at WOT, it don't blow your ears out.
I like the "Touring" style mufflers because they have absolutely no drone on the highway, but are just slightly louder than the NPP system when the NPP valves are closed. The Touring mufflers have a really nice note ... nice, but subtle.

Good choice installing a tunnel blanket when the stock exhaust system was removed.
I did the same thing with my GS ... I installed an Elite Engineering, Insulated Aluminum (1/4" thick) Tunnel Plate in mine when the exhaust system was removed.

Thanks brother. Yes I almost need three mild to wild positions, something in the middle of quiet and super loud. I might be in search af a cat back system soon. Lol.

Bob, what brand headers did you buy? Thinking of Kooks, but not sure if they're as good as ARH. Kooks are certainly a lot cheaper for sure.

I didn't know it then but now that I have done the deed I appreciate them, they fit very well and are of high quality, plus they give you all that's needed. Especially the Stage 8 locking fasteners, new exhaust gaskets, 02extensions that work and pinch strap bands that don't break, might not seem like much but take for instance the nightmare Midnite08 had, don't need that.
They will make your car loud, just ask around, oh and a little FASTER I do have drone but press the button and its all good, I like the sound myself, but there are times when you may want it quieter.

Kooks 1 3/4 with hiflow cats and 3x3x2.5" so I could keep my NPP is what I went with Billy, give Branden a call at Maryland Speed, prices I'll send you in PM. I also did new plugs, MSD wires and DEI boots.

Although I love the American Racing if I had it to do all over again I would most likely purchase Kooks.
When i I purchased mine I had to pay extra for the 4 O2 extensions harnesses even though I only needed the primaries. I ended up purchasing new GM manifold gaskets because I didn't like what American Racing provided. I re-used the original bolts because the ones they provide are not the same quality as stock. The fact that Kooks provided Stage 8 for you tells me they are really in the business of providing a quality full package, soup to nuts (or in this case...bolts).
