I'm sure a lot of us old guys have thought about the future of our hobby, but lately I've noticed a surge of new members on the forum with their first Corvette. It's great to see new people joining the madness. I hope everyone can be patient and respectful with new/old questions from newbies.

with Jerry. I recently had to PM a new member who was treated rudely by one of our unnamed but, probably can be guessed, older members. He was ready to "never return" but, I explained that the vast majority here are nothing like this guy. He thanked me and said he'd stick around.

I agree there are many new folks. It's good to see! I don't mind seeing the same questions but searching google with "corvette forum c2" plus my keywords gives me easy access to the substantial archives (easier than the forum search)

The C3 section has had a rash of new members in the past few weeks. One stupid question and they never return.

BTW, the forum has a new feature. If you do a forum search, you can do a search on the web with images. Top left corner.

Any chance of getting some actual demographics (age info) perhaps sorted by forum type.

Something like

C1: 18-30 year olds 15%; 31-50 year olds (50%) 51-70 year olds (35%)

Etc.

It's been done before. It's somewhere in the archives. Now, stop asking such dumb questions!

Being one of the newer folks here having bought my 60 a year and a half ago now, and lately looking at 63s I am very impressed with the people who have reached out to me and helped me learn more, and very recently one member here taking the time to meet me and show me his SWC and walk me through things to look for...well I cant say enough...extremely helpful/invaluable to me.

I have always had an interest in the 63 from a design perspective as a milestone car to me but ahead of it in desire was my 60 Cadillac I always wanted and bought one 4 years ago, otherwise I am a modern german car owner for 20+ years (Audi). My 60 was by surprise that I fit in it and my wife really likes it but I would not have considered myself a corvette person prior. I think I am now and the helpfulness of the owners I have met is increasing the enjoyment of my car. I love my 60 and I know I will love my future 63. So yes please, keep helping those of us that walked in with no idea. It makes a difference and keeps us here.

In my opinion, there is no bigger turn off than someone who is here everyday pointing another lesser informed person to Goggle/Search.

What makes these forums work is they are interactive. One person to another person. Ask a question and get an answer.

I have owned Corvettes for 50 years, but do not post much in the C2 Forum because there are some people here who know too much.

Yeah - shame some denigrate newer members who ask naive questions. God knows I've answered the same questions dozens of times but try to link folks to threads relevant to their issues dealt with before by preeminent experts (JohnZ for example)..

I've also learned to swallow my ego (yes, its true) often and step back when those with more knowledge/experience get involved in a thread.

I get quite a few PMs from newer members reluctant to post here because their lack of knowledge might get a harsh response - that's too bad IMO.

Been on the sticky end of the lollipop myself though on that OTHER site where cars (and people) are 'judged' but I have a thick skin and keep coming back for more...

I'm close to the 10 year mark here as a member and have to say, things have been a bit more cordial lately and the moderators don't have to drop the hammer as much - that's good for sure...

While that's always an excellent suggestion (I realize you were just joking) too often, that's the only kind of response a newbie will receive.

Then, they have to try and figure out what an AIM actually IS, much less know how to use it. Hell, I'm STILL trying to figure out how to use mine, not to mention how poorly it's been copied!

If it's not ready there that info should be in the FAQ thread.

Thanks John. I've actually been aware of that link, just been too lazy to read it. I definitely will, promise.

I did see that, but not really what I was asking.

I think that everyone that registered for Corvette Forum had to put in a birthday. Is this correct?

If so, some basic statistical analysis, using those birthdays, and what sections of the forum that person mainly posts on would be enlightening.

This subject is OT so, maybe you should contact a moderator to see if it's been done. If not, you could start a thread of your own.
