C6 Z06 Alternator Bracket Bolt Location Help
Working on heads and had to take the extra step and remove the PS from alternator bracket, now that I have heads off, and ready to reassemble things I need help in figuring where one of the 4X15mm bolts position is located, specifically the 4X15mm rounded tip. Can someone look at my attachment and tell me where this is located, notice the 1, 2,3 and 4 position, which one is rounded end.

Geez...that job was such a pain in the *** I think I've forced myself to forget. Do one of the bolts go all the way through and stick out the other end? It would make sense this would be the rounded end so it wouldn't cut anything.

Yah, that damn bracket is a royal PITA.... I somehow or other got the longer bolts that mount the alternator mixed up with the bolts for the bracket itself. Screwed with this G=damn thing for about four hours. Didn’t help matters that I already had the water pump installed, along with the rack and brake module. I think I may have actually created a few new cuss words messing with that damn thing.

If I had to guess I would say bolt #1, this is the one I struggled with the most as my wench rounded the head slightly. Can anyone confirm bolt #1 in picture to have rounded tip? From looking at where this bolts to head I'm not even sure why any of the alternator bracket bolts would need to be rounded.

Burning Brakes
1, 2, or 3 should all be the same. #4 bolt was the shorter one if I remember correctly. I will be finding out for sure on Friday as my heads are due back on Thursday.

They are all the same length, but one has a rounded tip. All 4 bolt into the head, just not sure why one has rounded tip

Just an FYI, you don't have to take off the PS pump or undo any of the PS lines or brake lines to ubolt that bracket when you pull heads... A shorty 15mm wrench, and a little patience is all you need. I always notch the PS reservoir bracket so it's easier to go back together, but no need to actually do anything with the pump.
