Seriously thinking of taking out my Bose system in my 1984,it has just ran its course. Can anyone recommend a good replacement? Hope to hear fromsomeone soon.

I replaced mine in my 88 with a Kenwood Excelon from Crutchfield. I had to buy new speakers because the PO had removed the original Bose. All said and done under $250 and has great sound. Crutchfield will include wiring adapters if you want to keep the original speakers and a mounting adapter for the bezel as the newer radios are not as tall as the Bose.

What exactly do you want to spend? Ask around if this is possible since I have no idea but here is what I did in my 91. I took out the rear speaker enclosures and toss them, speaker and all. Bought a couple of take off enclosures for NON-BOSE and mounted fitting speakers for a NON-BOSE C4. Ran wires from head unit to the speakers. Now I can run whatever the NON-BOSE ran.

I would like to find a direct replacement if there is such a animal,my current speakers are just fine. If there is such a radioI hope it looks as a close fit as the ORIGINAL

i AM NOT VERY EXPERIENCE IN THIS FIELD ,BUT IF i SHOULD HAPPEN TO NEED A WHOLE NEW SYSTEM WHAT WOULD YOU RECOMMEND. i BOUGHT THE CAR NEW AND i PLAN ON KEEPING IT. Just want to have a descent sound system

I am not sure that is the real issue. The real issue is you have a BOSE SYSTEM and that means different speakers and different head units. They work with EACH OTHER and probably are not good with "mix and match". So, can I stick in a radio/CD player that is 1.5 din? Probably. Can I make it talk to the speaker that is BOSE? Maybe not. There is an amplifier in the speaker unit itself.

If your speakers and amplifiers are good you could always send your unit off for repair. I replaced mine because the PO had already taken out the original speakers and amplifiers. Just Google Corvette Bose stereo repair. The 95 Camaro Bose is an option if you can find one - when I was looking I couldn't find one under $300.

You could try Dr Don's but unless you insist on originality and nothing else will do (car shows, NCRS, etc), IMO, repairing and old system that admittedly was good at the time is throwing good money after bad. With aftermarket, one speaker goes, dump it for something better. This one, you are at the mercy of the repair shops as things will break sooner or later.
