I was thinking of possibly trading in my coupe for a convertible... are there any differences in performance due to the convertible top? also can you fit golf clubs etc... in a convertible ?

I have a 2017 C7 convertible and absolutely love it. This is my second C7 convertible, the totally power top makes top operation simple with just a touch of the switch. The convertible has a trunk instead of a lift back. I have never needed additional baggage space on any road trip I have made. As for golf clubs; I am not into the sport so my knowledge is somewhat limited. Bag size varies and you might have to decide what you actually need on the course. I think two bags are possible if you lower the partition opening up several cubic feet of space. The convertible has the same power and performance capability as the coupe.

The convertible is slightly heavier however adjusting the fuel load can virtually eliminate that handicap. Never run a race or other performance event with a full load of fuel.

You need to have very small carry bags, (golf) and take the woods out, and not carry much else.

I looked, but in general, convertible sporty cars don't do golf well.

A 911 doesn't do golf well at all coupe or vert...lol

I can fit my carry bag (Ogio Spyke, or Grom) in back and still put the roof over it... It's a winner.

No problem with fitting a golfbag in the Convertible trunk. You do not need to remove the woods or anything else they fit fine.
No difference in performance also keep in mind the C7 was designed first as a Convertible. The ride is awesome very little if any wind buffeting, easy operating top, can operate up to 28 mph. No body flex like in the past all in all a perfect choice IMHO.
I had a coupe prior to my convertible and will never go back.

Golf bags fit fine. Even put two bags in with shoes. This was with the top down. Tight fit but did it.

The reason most other manufacturer's convertibles are considerably heavier is that the frame usually needs additional reinforcement, because the car wasn't designed as a convertible. The C7 needs no such extra reinforcement. Effectively, all C7s are convertibles from a structural standpoint, since the targa top is not structural.

The main reason for the slight extra weight in the convertible is the convertible top frame and motors, which weigh a few extra lbs.

I have had a couple verts 61 and 64 and I have had a couple coupes 79 and 81. Loved them all but for different reasons. Now I have a 17 GS vert and I love it. I also feel you can't go wrong either way.

The performance between the Coupe and Convertible are virtually the same! The Convertible will have a little less top speed than the Coupe.

Possibly, due to slight better aerodynamics (less turbulence) at high speeds, but we're talking speeds most don't even see on a race track.

I can fit two carry golf bags with shoes in mine and still use the top.
I reverse one to the other and pack the shoes in between it's tight but does fit.

Can't take convertible to track days without an added roll cage. If you're spirited driving, the convertible will overheat the e diff and trans faster due to much less airflow to the coolers.

GM designed the frame of the C7 for the Convertible first, then designed the Coupe around that frame work so there would be no loss in the frame rigidity. Now, onto the performance aspect. If you're like me, there is a slim to no chance I will ever be able to drive my Vert to it's maximum limit. As I've gotten more mature I realize my reflexes aren't what they used to be.

Also, I didn't even know that GM made anything but a convertible Corvette. You'll love a drop top.
