Installed high gloss hood decal
I liked QUIK Z06's recent thread mentioning the 'knifeless tape' product....just had to try it out. He is right folks, this stuff makes a remarkably sharp cut edge in the vinyl....once you locate your center line on the hood, you lay down the tape, then simply place your vinyl over it and pull the thread per the directions given. Here's a quick set of pics to show you how I worked everything....quick tip: I order two 12" x 60" lengths of material intending to use the perfectly straight edge of the foot wide piece, thus no need to cut a perfect straight line off a big sheet to run my decal shape down the center of the hood.
1/8" tape used to determine centerline
--------------------------
knifeless tape located on ridge feature of hood
----------------------------
tape being pulled through the vinyl
-----------------------------
overshoot the length to allow a nice wrap around hood edge
-----------------------------
same on front
-----------------------------
push vinyl down into groove to avoid any body paint showing, then trim with new single edge razor blade
-----------------------------
I left the STINGRAY letters on the hood just to see what would happen...I like the ghost effect.
---------------------------
final result...(later removed the silver tape)
---------------------------
wrapped around back edge of hood for a neat completion
----------------------------
different view...the high gloss complements the rest of the car
-----------------------------
Less than $20 in material, and about $18 for way more knifeless tape than I'll ever need! LOL the vinyl remnants will be used for fender stripes to match....

Very nice! Was wondering if you had ever got around to doing it. The hood is super easy to do, I had more trouble with the top. Anyway, glad my tip could help you out.
