Default Dorman LS2 on the dyno

Did the dorman do it's job, I think so. Old vs new. Before was cnc'd 243's, LS6 intake and vrx4 cam. New is TF cast 220's with 64cc chamber, dorman ls2 intake and same cam. Peak gain was 25whp and 15wtq. But the torque gains in the midrange were 20-25ish. I'm happy. Same dyno dynamics, same tuner. Some may say the numbers are low but it is a dyno dynamics. Tuner said stock c5's usually do 275-285whp. So a gain of 120whp I think is great for a H/C/I car. Considering the cam I have is mid range for corvettes these days. Most head, cam, fast 90 setups will gain that much too. So all in all, for 1/3 the price of a fast intake, I would say it's damn close for power. Thanks.

Nice ... I'm still waiting on somebody to do an unbiased test of the dorman ls6 on a mild c5 build

No offense, but couldn't those gains have come just from the heads?

I'm still debating if an upgrade from the LS6 is worth it. My tuner says not so much. I'm on CNC'd 243's and a BTR Stage 2 cam.

No offense taken. I know it was not a legit LS6 vs Dorman LS2 dyno so there will be some grey area. With the amount of research I've done on other setups and different combinations I believe it's very very close to a Fast 90. The shop I was at also has a dyno jet in the back. I asked him what the difference would be if any and he said 10-15%. So that puts me 440-460whp on a dyno jet which I think is respectable for my setup. Thanks.

I bought a dorman ls2 and was told it was missing a vacuum nozzle that affects how the air conditioning works. I returned the dorman and paid up for a fast 92. I was told by the shop owner that it needed this vacuum tube that is at the rear of the intake for the air conditioning to work properly. I was hoping big time the dorman would fit correctly but in my case I was told it would not. He did not want to drill and put the vacuum nozzle on it so I returned it. I cost me another 430.00 for the upgrade to a fast 92. boy that hurts. any comments??

i have a different thread addressing some of the concerns for install but it sounds like you already have returned your manifold.

Could you give me that thread ? I've got a Dorman I'm about to install on my 2000 , would be nice to see the thread to know what I'm getting into & if there's anything I have to do to the manifold prior to bolting it on , thanks !

It worked , thanks a bunch ! Have you re-done your steam tubes yet ? I wonder if they would have worked with the slight amount of "re-shaping" you did ? I will search your other threads & I don't know how to tell you how much I appreciate all the help & information you and others on the Forum give and share ! What a great bunch of People !

they may have worked but I felt safer making my own. just one coolant tee, some hose and clamps and that's it.
