I know this happened to ya'll because it happens to me all the time. I am in the fast lane passing a car in the middle lane and some asswipe in a stang or camero or rice burner is riding my tailgate close I mean like stupid close. One way of dealing with it is tap the brakes but I am scared to do that because what if they fark up and hit me and then my car is a repair shop and it shows up on carfax.

So what I do is I nail it, I mean I like to leave them in the dust to show them I am first pissed off they tailgated me and 2nd that their car is no match. I get a ways ahead of them and then I shut it down and just let them fly past me I don't care don't want to get busted for racing. Plus stangs or some rice burners sometimes are terrible drivers it's just not worth taking them on to put me or anybody else at risk when they fark up.

Finish passing the cars and then I move over into the right lane and let them drive at whatever pace they desire. Dumping it and going WOT, if observed by the FHP, will get you pulled over and a ticket. Highways are for driving.

You want to prove that you are faster? Go to the drag strip or road course and have at it.

That's how I handle it.

I only went on a one week cruise.

Well that is probably the most responsible way to handle it but I don't think you realize how close some of these dips are to me. Plus I think if a cop was to see it would hopefully he/she would understand why I did it and then maybe give them a ticket for tailgating.

Have you tried moving to another lane and letting them pass? With my luck, there'd be a cop watching the whole thing and I'd be the one who'd get the ticket.

I have no respect for darwin thought he was total idiot but are you saying that I would die by just hitting the throttle and then getting over? Remember some of these idiots are so close they easily hit me accidently.

I agree; just do what you need to, get around the slower traffic and let the jack@$$ go by. It irritates me just like anyone, but I don't feel the need to speed up; deep breaths and be on your way, just give those people a wide berth. I would not brake check them; I've never understood that concept, very dangerous.

I just get out of the way in cases like that, although I did have a tantrum this morning when a truck in front of me started dropping a bunch of beer cans on the road.
After I almost got rear ended, I floored it and birded the guy in the truck as I blasted by WOT in 2nd. Convertibles are great for birding, btw. Hopefully the guy doesn't key my car too hard next time he sees it.

funny how those birds feel so good when doing them and then come back to bite ya later like that. Better to give the bird in a camry or a chevy truck or something.

If I feel that I'm going more than fast enough (always am) and they're just doing it to **** me off, not get around me. I just downshift and slow down as much as possible without using the brakes. Hopefully match speeds with the person in the next lane to **** them off. Then when they go around. Resume course and speed. Same goes for traffic racers and blind-spot-riders. I never just cruise in the left lane, unless I'm in a line of traffic that's cookin.

Going WOT just to prove a point is a waste of time, energy and risk. I'm sure (in your situation) they are just looking for a demonstration. Why give them what they want?!

that could be it or they could just be being an ***... like lets fark with the corvette. but going WOT is really not that big a deal at 75mph no way the tires are gong to break loose so you just accelerate get a good bit ahead of them get over then shut it down. That's what pisses them off because you don't give them a chance to see if they are faster.

I will just continue on and ignore them and do nothing different. Sometimes I will see how long they will follow. Usually not real far. Remember when operating a Corvette, the following car probably isn't as close as it looks in the rear view mirror. Life is to short to get worked up over the little things.

If I'm feeling a bit cranky I'll simply let off the gas and just coast, this usually drives the jerks completely nuts without being 'aggressive'.
