Default 2017 ZO6 hard acceleration, lost power at 130mph

Has this happened to anyone,I was driving at normal highway speed, then put my foot to the floor, shifted great to about 130mph and lost power, its not a hot day and engine temp was normal. Engine light came on and information centre says engine power has been reduced?
I just traded my 14 C7 and never had that happen!

Did it set a cel ? If not check the intercooler reservoir level.

Might, if the intake allows more air than the various sensors expect to see at that throttle position, rpm, and load. Or by altering the airflow pattern around the Mass Air Flow sensor so it reads differently than with a stock intake.

Check engine light ? If it did you can easily pull the code to see what's up. If not look down on to the res and see how big the air bubble is.

As others noted when the CEL (check engine light) comes on then one or more DTCs (diagnostic trouble codes) will be stored and can be retrieved. This will guide you towards the issue. Others have reported a problem with the AFE on a Z06 creating an unacceptable air/fuel mixture when used drag racing so it will show up in other cases where the Z06 is running high rpm/full boost.

Get the DTC pulled and go from there but the LT4 sounds like it went into protection mode which is a lot better than having engine damage when the fuel/air ratio goes out of acceptable bounds.

Put the stock airbox back on the car.

I just traded my 14 C7 and never had that happen!
I also have a 17 M7 Z06, and had this happen a few times with an after market air intake, the 17s can be more sensitive then earlier models...

I've since tuned and added more mods, no more issues. The range of air allowed by the computer on the 17s is tighter then 15/16.

Check the code, P106 was what mine was.

I echo the P0106 code. Had it happen a few times on my 17 with aftermarket air intake.

Get a good tune if you want the benefit of a CAI. Increase air flow can slow your car down without getting the proper AFR.

Which airflow parameter in the ECM is tighter ?

I'd highly suggest nontuned 17 guys to sell the aftermarket intakes and purchase the BMS filter that drops into the stock intake.

Best,
gene

When I spoke to the GM techs who were involved in the 17 tune at Sema, they said the range of air flow that the MAF would allow is pretty tight with the 17s...

He said they ran 5 separate stock intake 5 times each, and measured the air flow they delivered. They then allowed a very slight variance of that average, and if you go too far out of that range, the code is thrown...

This is my best "layman's" recollection of my conversation with them last year.
