Leather seats covered under warranty?

Leather seats covered under warranty?
I was cleaning my seats the other day with some Meguiar's leather cleaner and conditioner and a microfiber towel and it rubbed right through this part of the leather. I was scrubbing it a bit to get some color out from my blue jeans, but I definitely wasn't using any excessive amount of force. Would something like this be covered under warranty? Surely the leather shouldn't be this fragile. If it is covered, any advice on getting them to honor this? I feel like they will try to feed me some BS that it was my fault or try to claim that it was negligence or something.

Sorry dude, but in my opinion, it was your fault.
Here's the picture imbedded in a post, just to make it easier for everybody.

How so? Are we not supposed to clean our seats? I was using a microfiber towel specifically to be gentle on it and wasn't pressing hard, it came right off like it was nothing.
I mean look at this video:
He's using way more force than I was AND using a power tool on the seats. And this is on an old Lexus.

It certainly wouldn't hurt to ask, but I doubt that it'll be covered. Good news is that any competent upholstery shop should be able to easily repair it as the damage seems to be limited to just the piping.
It's not the first time that I've read on this forum of color transferring to the seats. Someone recently had the head liner stain the top of their passenger seat. GL.

You can get a new seatcover under warranty. if your dealer gives you any hassle go to another dealer.

Be prepared to see more of this on the drivers seat. That's a wear point from getting in and out of the car. I just used a black marker on mine. Not worth getting repaired yet.

Your piping looks like it was abraded lightly and the top and bottom of the section and harder in the middle section. Whether by your cleaning or by sliding over the piping getting in/out, to me, it looks like it has been abraded, not a failure of the material. I'm sure most dealers looking at that would see the same.
That's just my opinion. Maybe you'll find a dealer that will replace it, but I'd be surprised.

Not sure if it would be covered, probably shouldn't be, but the story you tell will probably be the difference. Agreed with the others that this is easy for a repair.
My wife's German car, specifically says don't use microfiber on leather.

I agree w. Mike above, but truly can't imagine how that could happen, rubbing gently and with a micro towel. UNLESS it was already partially rubbed thru from clothing. I also think it depends on 1) the age of the car, and 2) the relationship you have with the dealer. Generally, if it's w/in the first year, it'd be more likely to be replaced/repaired.

Funny thing i noticed light wear on my seat in the exact same spot last night. Im pretty sure you and i are getting the same wear in the same location for the same reason. Its not from clean but its most likely from the way you rub that location of the seat getting in or out of the cars, especially wearing jeans. My wear was less then yours and my seats are black so i was able to cover my wear up with a little black shoe polish.

All you can do is take it to the dealer and complain. But I'd have a good story ready to try and make your case that it is some form of premature deterioration. Ultimately it is GM that will end-up footing the repair bill.
It's hard to understand how something like that would have happened from just "normal" cleaning.

The OPs wear is due to entry into the car. GM will warranty the seat covers for this kind of wear. I had the driver's side seat cover replaced twice on my C6Z. First time it was wear due to the previous owner, second time was wear due to dealer car jockey about 3 weeks after they replaced the first skin. I saw the guy getting into the car the wrong way and shouted for him to stop but his butt was in motion and his jeans pretty much ruined the seat bolster in one shot. I had just finished telling the service writer to note on the repair order how people should get in the car correctly.
