Who knows the 63-67 luggage rack
I am restoring my first Vette, a 70 Stingray. It has 4 holes on the back panel for a luggage rack. All 70 and up factory racks were 6 hole, with 8 hole following later. I am told by the experts that that rack that was on mine was probably a 63-67 convertible rack. So, who knows about these racks? I can use the help... and will want to locate one, if it is out there.

IIRC even the midyear coupes could have the rack.
There is a popular picture of William Shatner and his German Shepard. The 63 coupe in the picture has a luggage rack. I thought some vendor made a repro.

Indeed, if the information I have been given is accurate and the holes I have in my 70 are from a 63-67 convertible luggage rack... I want to locate and buy one. I don't want to try to fill in the holes, then paint over them. Many people in the know say the holes will usually reappear due to shrinkage. CAN SOMEONE GIVE ME THE MEASUREMENTS FROM A RACK ON YOUR C2, CENTER OF THE HOLE TO CENTER OF THE HOLE, WIDTH AND HEIGHT? Of course, your rack had little feet on them, so how does that work? Thanks so much!

It was a dealer option so having the absolute correct rack really is not that big of a deal, GM may have had more than one vender anyway. I don't think anyone judges them other than just a small deduct for it being there in the first place.

Yep. I couldn't find a 63-67 rack on the Los Angeles Craigslist. I did find one that came off a 71 and I sent a text message, but no response. Perhaps one of our Vette compadres will come through...

I didn't find measurements for the 63-67 luggage rack however I was able to find measurements for the 68-76 six-hole and 68-77-eight hole FWIW. See images below
Note that the C3 racks appear to be made so that the gas lid can be accessed through the center of the rack. Not sure this was the case with the C2 rack.
FYI - The '62 vette also had a rack as seen in the TV series Route 66 and it appears to be a four-hole mount (images added below)

DucatiDon, would you say that your rack is the standard rack like others you've seen on the C2? I ask this because I have absolutely no clue that it is or is not. I'm new to Vettes and just learning the C3. Obviously, a rack that would bolt to the bumper on a C2 would not fit on a C3.

I don't remember seeing the luggage rack being a factory option in Nolan Adams book, although I'm sure you could get a dealer to bolt one on or shop the JC Whitney Catalog. I used to attach a ski rack on my 1968 Camaro but it used suction cups and straps with rubber coated clips that attached to the trunk lid.
If you've watched the Jay Leno's Garage video about his 1963 Coupe, he mentions it had a trailer hitch on it so I guess anything's possible.
