Had some bird **** stain my paint
Had my shark grey Z in my driveway for a few hours yesterday, otherwise it is garaged.Had some bird **** on it,cleaned it off.It left a mark in the paint that I cant get out.Car has at leat 4 coats of Z2 and a couple coats of Zaino clear seal.Hard to believe it left a stain.I clayed it,waxed it,still there.Never had this issue with any car that ive owned

A little light compound should remove the etching. Something like Meguiar's Ultimate Compound should do the trick, or maybe M95 if it sat on there a long time.

I never understand this. Birds **** all over my other cars and I've never had etched paint. So why does it happen to some people and not others?

I have no idea if anything will "take it off" but there is a product called Fine Cut by Meguiar's. Again, I haven't been to their site to see which is "milder" but I've used that one on a lot of different things with excellent results. I'd suggest that in the case of paint or clear remedies, less is better than more (less abrasive, less cutting is better than more). Bird stuff is very strong and very acidic. To my knowledge, it'll cut thru most things on cars pretty easily, helped along by sun which heats/boils it. jmo

Regardless of what it ate, done deal... Now, i would attempt that meguiars paint correction kit. I have it for both 6.5 and 3 inch DA. the compound provided and the terry discs really work on cutting the paint but not too deep.
OP if you have a DA get it. it'll work slowly but surely. had it on my roof when i corrected the car upon purchase when new before Xpel. trick is to build a little heat in it just keep checking it'll slowly go away as the clear is cut by microns every couple of minutes pressure and speed depending.
also agree with another member who posted the ultimate compound first on a yellow lake country foam pad would be first choice. won't cut clear at all so if it didn't eat through, that should handle it

Maybe some of the ceramic coats can protect against bird bombs, but I've had it eat through the paint to the primer on my Honda. Factory paint, or the lack of it, makes it difficult to correct for the etching done by bird crap. I've had find luck with M205 from Meguiars. You gotta start with the least aggressive cleaner that removes the etching.

I couldn't get it off with M205 (which is very mild, and more of a polish than anything), but hand applying some Ultimate Compound took it off pretty easily. Finished it off with some M205 and a coat of wax, and it looks good as new.
Meguiar's site recommends a M105/M205 combination, but M105 is a bit too abrasive to start off with IMO.

apply a base to neutralize the acid. let is sit overnight and reapply if not neutralized. this has worked for me many times, although i never tried to rub or buff it out in advance of neutralizing.

I was golfing and had my daily driver Infiniti Red 400 and had goose crap I think on the hood that got baked in when I got home. Detail spray would not work. I used Meguiars compound with the pc and it took about 15 minutes of buffing but finally looked normal.

Ceramic coating does not prevent etching from bird poop.

During certain times of the year the berries the birds eat contain high levels of acid, that gets released when they poop, it can even etch glass, and there is NO wax or coating that will prevent that from happening, the only thing you can do is get it off the surface ASAP. Other times of the year it could sit on the surface for weeks and do no damage.

No amount of wax/sealant is going to prevent bird **** etching.. I've had it happen on just about every car I own.
Even on my C7Z, I was at a car show, watched the bird **** on it.. I ran over and wiped it with a microfiber towel and detail spray within 30 seconds of that **** hitting it, and it still left a slight slight etch. Maguires Scratch remover 2.0 got 95* of it off. You have to cut into the clear to get out.
In before everyone start bashing corvette paint for not being **** proof.

wMy daily driver sits outside so I thought it would be helpful.
Had it applied locally by a certified installer in Atlanta. Car stays cleaner but in my opinion the shine and protection was not much better than a good sealant and was the coating was costly.
