Why are so many Corvette owners so cheap
I am so tired of people who think that a corvette is expensive or complain about how 13 k for a used vette breaks the bank. I came to the C7 after owning 3 brand new porsche 911's . I think the corvette is inexpensive . To buy a porsche convertible with the same performance of Z06 3LT convertible you would have to spend double the price. The corvette is wonderful performance car.

You were doing just fine until that cheap shot. If Corvettes are beneath your dignity, leave for the rarefied air of your lofty superior choice. That's an arrogant attitude if you ask me. I doubt many people except yourself are impressed.

everything is relative... to a billionaire this comparison may never happen while he or she buys multi-million dollar classics or Centenario/Veneno Lambos, Bugatti's, Koenigsegg's etc?

I agree it's all relevant.
But some people are spending more on a new Vette then others spend for a house or maybe they spent for their first, maybe second house so in that case they are expensive! If you are buying exotics and then buy a Vette then yes they are a bargain.

Horsepower per $ spent; you can't beat a Corvette and a bargain in general compared to other higher-end sports cars.

Yup, Agree with 16/C7Z. Everything is relative. But again a couple of rich millionaire I know is the cheapest people you will ever meet. Maybe that is why they got rich.

If your house cost less than a corvette you should not be buying a corvette . I didn't buy the corvette because it was cheaper than a 911. I actually thought it was a better car.

Why does it matter what one's house cost? The cost of living varies greatly throughout this country. Perhaps someone wants to live in a $70K condo that is super nice. Are you saying that they shouldn't buy an $80K Corvette even if they can pay cash for it? It's just a car, not a status symbol...Some folks are fine with living below their means. Now if they are having a hard time making ends meet with a $70K condo then I agree that they shouldn't be buying an $80K vette.

But to think that you or I are somehow superior to those for whom a Corvette is "expensive", is in itself pretty low class.

I’m looking for a condo under $250k as a getaway spot that I don’t have to deal with maintenance etc. I looked at a bunch of cars and thought I was going to buy a Cayman S and then Porsche decides to put a 4 cylinder turbo in it. I drove both the base Cayman and the S as well as the older flat six Caymans. Despite the performance metrics, I felt like the older Cayman had more soul to it and the four cylinder just kind of drones.but considering I own a 135is wth a Dinan tune, I didn’t think (couldn’t find an M2 to drive) it would be that much better for twice as much as I paid for the 135. I drove the corvette and immediately felt connected to it. I love how it rides, how it sounds, how I fit in it etc. It also provides a lot of value where Porsche charges you for every single thing, which is why a base Cayman can cost as much as a Z06. No way I’d buy a loaded Cayman over a Z06.

The corvette C7 is finally a sports car that performance wise is what the C2 was back in the early 1960's compared to its competitors . The C4, C5 and due to the poor interior in the C6 were the lost years in my opinion of the corvette. I am well past the age of buying a car as a status symbol, I could care less about that. However pride in ownership is part of the enjoyment of buying a sport car. The C7 mission I believe was to save the brand by converting buyers of other brands which it did with me and attract other younger buyers. Going to certain chevy dealers to service my car is another big turn off. There is truth to what I am saying.

Well, I do have to say I cringe about taking my Corvette to a Chevrolet dealer. Domestic brand dealerships tend not to know how to treat a customer differently who paid $75k for their Tahoe or Corvette vs someone who bought a Cruze. It’s a much different experience at the Audi and BMW dealerships.

Why is cost brought up all the time ? Audi and BMW are well engineered automobiles, have terrific interiors and are a quality brand. I do not own either one but appreciate what they are.

I’m not paying for any oil changes.....yet. But when I do, I will go to a local independent BMW shop and they charge less than $100.
