Default California highway patrol getting slick

They have been sitting on the other side of an overpass on the 58 from Bakersfield, clocking from behind. I also got hit twice on my Hayabusa motorcycle with lidar, had to be from the sky. Phew, good thing I was going the speed limit. Another thing they been doing is sitting at 90 degrees and as you pass the street, got cha. I didn't have my valentine one with me at the time to see if it would pick up scatter radar waves. I tell you, that V1 is the best detector I've ever owned hands down beats the Passport.

As a former Chippy, I can tell you categorically that the driver that always lets a few "faster" cars pass him or her now and then generally doesn't get stopped. Just sayin".

When I read the title, the C.H.I.P.S. music started playing in my head and I thought of Ponch and John sneaking around on their Kawasawkis....

They can track you from behind, in front, other side of the freeway going the other way, all kinds of ways to get speeders.
And please save all the anti cop stuff that's just waiting to be spewed, please

I am driving to Arizona in a couple of days. Gonna have the V1 on standby! At the CA/AZ border they are thick as flies!

Why is the Valentine One better than the Escort Passport? Most of my friends chose the Escort Passport 360 over the Valentine, and we're pretty happy.

You don't think that LIDAR shot from the sky could've been a false reading?

Just asking. I haven't hooked up a detector in 30 years. It's probably in garage somewhere.

best protection against a ticket when i'm a little heavy on the gas pedal..... wait for a sucker to lead the way. i find someone doing 10-20 over the limit and stay about 10 to 15 car lengths behind, same lane, works like a charm. haven't been ticketed in 9 years.

I was in middle of desert, all of a sudden, bleam, bleam like crazy. Signs all over the place saying aircraft doing the speed thing.

my experience elsewhere is instant-on can wait until you're right on it before triggering. literally, feet away from a police unit. as to LIDAR which is laser, I heard recently it can now be handheld* and doesn't have to be on a fixed-mount as it used to be (ultra stable for reading speed).

I've noticed that some big Jumbotron-style animated billboards will consistently trigger a false LIDAR warning.

I don't know how one would even use LIDAR from an aircraft. I've always heard they just pace the car between mile markers, which are super obvious from the air.

Times change, I remember when a chippy was something altogether different.

Oh rats. The secret is out. I use cruise control set 9 or 10 mph over with spurts to well over 130 and haven't been stopped in more than 150,000 miles. In my frequent 800 mile trips I will be passed maybe a couple dozen times.

Though it was close last month when I saw lights coming up fast behind me maybe a mile after one of those spurts. But he pulled over the SUV that had been with me for the past 50 miles maybe because the SUV had decided it was finally time to pass me because I was coming back down and only 15 over. I'm sure the trooper clocked me but I think he had a choice between the two of us. We were both pulling off but I was on the brakes so hard it was looking like he was going to ram me so he pulled back out and took the SUV. Sorry, Charlie.

I call them a rabbit. Let them out about an 1/8 of a mile and pace.

It drives me nuts when I pass someone and then they pace me from behind. Choose your speed and then stay with it. I am not leading a parade and I don't want to ride in a crowd if I can help it.
