Default Bucket list road trip- The Mother Road

So ive wanted to do a RT. 66 for years. Either being broke when I was a kid or when I had the money I never had the time (everyone's story right?).
So after I bought my cheap junker C4 in February I said you know what I'm going to it this year with this car. So my 7 year old and I left the house at 6:45 this morning, went to the gas station, fueled the car and was on the road by 6:58.

Pic of my 88 Buick Reatta on Route 66. I can see the road from my front window.

I want to drive Rt 66 heading west to the coast once I retire. I've driven most through Illinois and Missouri, plus I bought my Vette in New Mexico and drove it home on part of Rt 66. My desire is to take it back all the way.

Have a great time. I did route 66 through the Texas panhandle with my wife several years ago. We plan on doing it again except in the Vette this time.

Try to hit these on the way home We just returned from a Rte 66 trip in our GT/CS. Your son will love Pop's in Arcadia, OK. 700 varieties of soda pop. The refurbished Conoco station is in Shamrock, TX, the museum in Clinton, OK, the steakhouse in Amarillo (has a really fun western theme inside), and of course 'standing on a corner' in Winslow, Arizona (excellent Rte 66 gift shop and Sipp's diner on the same corner). Good times. Have fun!

Now that's a place I would like to visit, always like to try different soda's.

Pontiac Illinois...I was just there like 2 weeks ago...spent the night. I was on a trip to pick up some materials with a trailer (towed with my 05 Chevy Van) from Ouincy Illinois back to Jersey for a project I was working on. I didn't know there was a Rt 66 stop there (I was traveling Rt 55 so I should have known). I checked into the motel and said to the girl "Pontiac...it's where the cars are named for right?" She said "yes". While walking to my room I just laughed at us both because that was Pontiac Michigan!
