Default LS7 Cam upgrade

OK, have an idea, Install GM stage 3 hotcam with 1.7 rockers. Gets lift down a little, less load on valve guides, but gets duration up.

PROs / CONs

Who makes 1.7 rockers for OE LS7 heads that are as light as OE rockers?

IMO not a good idea.

First who makes a 1.7 rocker for ls7 head? Just getting those made would outweigh the cost. You can't just slap ls3 rockers on.

Gm hot cam is not a good cam for a street LS7.

There are SOOO many better proven cams and setups, that experimenting with stuff like this, especially at a higher cost seems silly.

Thanks, shows how much I need to learn. New to LS motors, had LT for 19 years. Time for more reading.

If you want less lift, just get a cam with less lift. Custom, or what I'm doing, an Alpha cam from CPR - something like that.

Wipe pattern should be your area of concern if your desire is to mitigate side-loading. Get heads done by a competent machine shop, preferably one that does a lot of these heads/LS motors. A concentric performance valve job, utilize/retain lightweight parts, keep the lift under .630 (stock cam is .591), and the stock rockers should exhibit an ideal wipe pattern.

Was going to completely redo heads for valve issue, but was looking at cams, did not know LSX rockers are not all the same. Then going to do custom grind
