Katech 110 Cam No headers
Anybody do a katech cam with no headers? My heads are already done. So now I was planning on doing intake, cam, headers and high flow cats. But is the 25 hp on gonna get from the headers is it worth the cash? I've seen the results with stock manifolds of 530 to 535 to the wheels. Not to mention dealing with blowing out header gaskets and bolts coming loose. Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance.

Really a preference thing...you could certainly run that cam with OE manifolds and be just fine. You'll be leaving some HP/TQ on the table by not going with more efficient LT's. You could always pick up a second hand set on here...plenty of used stuff at good prices if your patient. You could also save some money and go with the B&B LT's that mate to you OE mid-pipe...but that setup would be cat-less. You could always run it with OE manifolds first, and make a decision on LT's down the road...no harm in waiting.

Really depends on if the hp is worth the cost to you. Some spend 2k for 15rwhp and dont even think twice. Others want more of a gain for $2k. We have done small to mid sized cams with great results on the factory LS7 manifolds.
Send me an email if you want some specs/pricing. We are not to far from you.

At about 1hp per $100 headers are a decent bang for the buck value. Used headers make the deal a bit sweeter. About 15hp for $1500.
Which intake are you planning on installing?
Just FYI, Mamo MSD intake manifold gains about 25hp for about $1500. Much better bang for the buck upgrade than headers, easier install too. Just something to think about.

Thanks for the replies, Its not the money as much as the headaches I think they are gonna cause. Blowing gaskets, always having to tighten the bolts and heat transfer to the interior.

The shop I use did this same set up without headers and only dropped about 25 horse to the wheels. 550hp with headers and 535 without. Again I'm not against the headers but my issue is dealing with the B.S. that comes with them. Just looking to get other people's opinions on the subject.

I've had my headers on for 107K miles and have NEVER had a header flange leak or tightened a header bolt. FWIW, I used Stage 8 locking headers bolts, not sure if they're responsible for the lack of leaks though. I'd use them again too.

Not sure who is doing your heads, but AHP has a 116 cam that has been utilized numerous times with stock manifolds to pass smog.
These two examples of heads cam only cars are in the 550 hp range.

Wow! When was the last time you heard anyone talk about the Katech 110 cam??? I can remember when almost every thread was about that cam... You won't have any headaches if you get headers. I've run mine (ARH) for four years along with the Katech 110 cam with no problems. The LS7 exhaust manifold flows very well but headers will definitely look along with a great improvement in sound!!! You are going to love that cam!!!

If you're worried headers are going to cause issues, they aren't really.
I ran longtube headers on just about every single car I've had. Never had any issues.
Never had leaks, use good gaskets, after some initial miles, tighten it up. As far as heating issues, get a good ceramic coating on the headers and even wrap them if you're worried. Use stock GM MLS gasket and you won't have an issue. The install is honestly fairly easy.
