Default Fender Vents Digging into the Paint

I know there have been posts about this but I can’tseem to find them by searching.

I have 2016 with 2300 miles on it and I’ve hadit since September 2016. The vents on are just starting to dig into the painton the lower corner on both fenders. I brought my car to the dealer and theysuggested that I start a customer claim. The claim was start and but now I haveto wait for a GM rep to come look at the car. So now I’m waiting for the rep toget back from vacation. I also have Xpel on the front of the car and I did thisto try and preserve the factory paint.

Anyone that has had this issue please let meknow how the issue was resolved.

OP, you're kind of screwed right now. GM had a revised vent then didn't put it on my car and my buddy's. Said a NEWER version was being designed to better address issue and that as of last week, no date has been set. It stinks but there are far more worse problems some people on here are dealing with. as for me? I just chipped the loose corner and touched it up for now. not letting that ruin my experience. i too would have to have my Xpel reinstalled if i went the paint route which for the tiny chip would be insane imo.. but they should have done a better job on these vents!!

I have this same issue and went in today and the dealership was cool and they said they said they would cover what ever the charge would be when I take it to the body shop to get it fixed.

Is this only happening on the Z06 vents? Have there been issues with the Grand Sport Vents or smaller Stingray side vents?

haven't seen it on GS. i think the what the GS vent is shaped it would conceal any issue there. has a bubble effect different than the Z.

Lots of good information in that thread, but it went dead with no activity since 6-25-2017. Does anyone have any updates?

i brought my Z06 to the dealership for the paint coming off around the vents and they agreed to repaint both fenders to try to fix the problem under warranty. car should be done monday but i have a sneaking suspicion that this is only a temporary fix. if anyone finds out more about the redesigned vents please keep me informed becfore they have to repaint it again.

This is my concern also.
If I have the fenders painted and the vents are not addressed, in a year the fenders will have to be painted again.

yep. Have them contact your regional rep and have it documented that you Know they are improving the design so you will have all addressed when they are available.

it's 100% fact. I'll give you my vin and my buddy's if you need.

Mine has the same issue and is being done under warranty. It's in for the second time (different dealer) and we decided (I know it sounds ludicrous) to lightly sand / shave the back portion of the vent to fit the fender correctly. I should have it back tomorrow I'll let you know how it goes.

I have been advised by a very good source to ask the manager of my local Chevy dealers body shop to submit an official **** case and submit it to GM for this issue. I also will keep you folks informed.
