That owner got screwed over, what a waste of money. I like mods but this car just goes to show some people have more money than sense.
Alex: Judging by the IL plates, and the fashion outlets in the background, seems you at least live near-ish to me. Not sure about the Z06 owner though.

Sounds like the car is a screamer, but for $60K it very well should be. As the saying goes, do not expect a good return on any mods you do to the car and this one is a prime example.

If you watch the whole video...
a) The current IL owner didn't get screwed. He got the bargain of the century. He bought the whole car modded for $30K!
b) The original owner didn't drop $60K at once. The first almost $30K was spent at LPE back in 2002. Built shortblock and the twin-turbo system plus installation by LPE will reach that price easily.
c) The RPM Level 10 4L65E trans is $5600, the Stage 4 diff is $3400, plus the upgraded axles and suspension mods, which totals about $10K. The guy claims Vengeance did $16K worth of upgrades and maintenance other than the trans swap. That means the labor for everything at Vengeance was around $4000.
$60K sounds nuts, but not when you break it down like that. Definitely not what I would have done to achieve that power level, but whatever. LOL

"A car is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it." Golden rule of the car enthusiast world. Or any world, really. The original owner obviously didn't modify the car to make a profit when he sold it. He modified it to go a lot faster than a stock one, as many car enthusiasts do. I have modified several cars over the years, and never made a profit on any of them. Nor did I expect to.

This guy has posted two threads on this topic, both with little value, under different names. Can we please get rid of them? And him?
Unless this BB is in the business of advertising for Youtube, that is.

I wasn't claiming the original owner, nor the current IL owner was the one screwed. Though to be fair, the video wasn't clear where the current or owner who modded it lived...unless I missed it both times I watched. That being said, it would be the 2nd owner who spent $60k on a car worth half that or less that got screwed.
And I respectfully disagree, even breaking the 60K down like you did still sounds nuts. Haha...At least to me--who isn't a doctor or other professions noted in the video. So I'm with Alex, while I wish I had that problem, I still prefer to work on them myself when possible. But then I've always been a 'Built not Bought' kinda guy out of necessity and pride.

Lots of sites don't allow multiple posting, or links such as this.
Personally I think they should pay like every other monetary related posts, or get the boot.

Loved the Video, especially that guys reactions, when he nailed it, in the C5 Z06.
You don't have to spend anywhere near that much, for similar power!
My C5 has very similar power, for much less. I get the same grins and reactions still, every day, from that kind of power when I nail it!
And, it is extremely fun, to blow the doors of of C7 Z06's, and Porsche 911's out on the Freeways who think they're going to 'beat down' this old C5...!
I don't give a sh-t what it sells for some day, cause I'll be dead, and a friend of mine is a dealer, who'll take care of selling it, and giving the money to my wife.
I'll be grinning, in perpetuity !!!

Blah blah blah....... what is a vacation worth after you get home, what can that memory be sold for or a nice dinner out or any other life experience. Your argument is old and not valid period. These and most cars are not investments, I'm not sure why you keep pointing this out captain obvious

I still can't believe people don't understand that retaining the lowest $ invested to money acquired at resale ratio is the only way to enjoy a car.
Let it people enjoy things that don't hurt others.

I wish I could run across a deal like this. Needs new rims and window tint though - that would be my first mods after the PO mods.

That was an entertaining video, well put together.
$30K for that car after $60K was put into it, I'd say that's a good buy especially when you consider the original sticker was another $50K. Like he said, a used "stock" Z06 goes for about $25K. So he got $60K in mods for $5K. That's a steal

I'd drive the crap out of it....you wouldn't see me spending those kind of rupees for it, but I'd sure as heck drive the wheels of of it...
