Default Back ducts

I have a new 2017 base 1lt A8 and both back ducts are closed off. I thought with the A8's rear drivers duct was open for trans cooling. Mineis closed just like the pass side one???

They are both fake on the base coupes w/standard transmission, however, the driver's side is functional for autos to provide cooling to the transmission (heat exchanger).

Both vents are functional for the Z06, GS, and Z51. Driver's side provides cooling for both standard and manual transmissions, and the passenger side provides cooling to the eDIF.

Verts have the applicable vents contained inside the fender well.

^^^
But OP says he has an A8? He must have a coupe or would not have any visible vents on the fenders.

Perhaps, if the OP has and A8 coupe, and he puts a wire down in the slots on the driver's side he'll see it goes past the grill!
